Professor Wan Dingrong's project team began to study and draft theinternational standard of Artemisia argyi leaf in 2013, which was officiallyapproved by ISO in May 2015 (No. NP 20759-1). Theprepared draft of international standard for Artemisia argyi leaf was passed byrounds of voting by international member bodies. The identification methodsspecified in the standard can effectively distinguish the two non-mainstreamartemisia leaves used by Japan and South Korea; It also stipulates the methodsand limits for determining the content of active substances such as volatileoil, total flavonoids, and 1,8- eucalyptol in medicinal leaves and providestechnical rules for controlling the quality of artemisia leaves in the world.During the drafting of this standard, School of Chinese Medicine of Hong KongBaptist University, Hubei University of Chinese Medicine, Li ShizhenPharmaceutical Group and related members gave supports and participated in somestudies.

Itis reported that artemisia leaf is the raw material for famous moxibustiontherapy and artemisia leaf products, and at the same time, and its medical andhealth care products enjoy a good reputation at home and abroad. China is theworld's main producing area for artemisia leaf. There are great domestic andinternational market demands and broad industrial development prospects. As thestandard has been awarded to be implemented, it will have a positive impact onguaranteeing the quality of the raw materials of artemisia leaf products anddeveloping the domestic and foreign artemisia leaf industry and acupuncture(moxibustion) business and effectively promote the export of high-qualityartemisia leaf and its products in China.
