"Key Technology and Demonstration of Highly Effective Utilization and Pollution Control of Rhodochrosite" Conclusion

On May 23, the acceptance meeting of the National Science andTechnology Support Plan Project Key Technology and Demonstration ofHighly Effective Utilization and Pollution Control of Rhodochrosite heldby SCUN was held in Beijing. Ten technical experts and two financial experts,such as Chen Xiaoou, Resources and Environment Office, Department of Scienceand Technology for Social Development, Ministry of Science and Technology,Jiang Wei, Clean Technology Development Office of the Administrative Center forChina's Agenda 21, Professor Zhang Yimin, Wuhan University of Science andTechnology, Guo Xueyi, Vice President of Central South University and ChengFangqin, Vice President of Shanxi University as well as Cao Guoping, researcherof National Education and Technology Department of the National Civil AffairsCommission, Ming Xianquan, Deputy General Manager of CITIC Dameng MiningIndustries Limited Liability Company, members of the research group of BeijingUniversity of Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science andTechnology, Wuhan University and SCUN, Li Jinlin, President of SCUN, DuDongyun, Deputy President of SCUN, and the person in charge of the Developmentof Science and Technology Institute attended the meeting.

Jiang Wei first announced the list of expert group members andintroduced the project acceptance status and member units of the project.Professor Zhang Yimin, head of the expert group, presided over the acceptancemeeting. Professor Li Jinlin, the project leader, made a report on behalf ofthe project team on 5 aspects, including project background, goals and tasks,task completion, landmark results and applications, fund usage, projectimplementation and process management.

Subsequently, the expert group questioned the completion of theproject. Deputy General Manager Ming Xianquan and Professor Zhu Hua of WuhanUniversity, Professor Lian Fang from Beijing University of Science andTechnology, Professor Du Dongyun of SCUN and Professor Wu Xiaohui from HuazhongUniversity of Science and Technology gave reports and replies on behalf ofProject Groups I, II, III and IV respectively.

After questioning and discussion, the expert group gave anacceptance opinion: The project completed the research content stipulated inthe assignment book, reached the assessment index and used the special fundsrationally, so they unanimously agreed that the project passed the acceptance.At the same time, the expert group fully affirmed the achievements of theproject and put forward opinions and suggestions on deepening the follow-upresearch and further promoting the transformation and the application ofachievement and the construction of demonstration parks.

Chen Xiaoou affirmed the acceptance of the project. She said thatthe project's previous industrial chain design is relatively completed withscientific and reasonable argumentation, rich project achievements and broadapplication prospects and strong demonstration value and it is worth further toresearch. Ming Xianquan said that the company will actively adopt expertadvice, accelerate results transformation and application and further serve thesustainable development of China's electrolytic manganese industry.

LiJinlin, on behalf of the project team, thanked the Ministry of Science andTechnology, the Ministry of Finance, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of thePeople's Republic of China and the Administrative Center for China's Agenda 21for their strong support as well as all experts for their guidance andaffirmation. He said that the project was established to promote economicdevelopment and ecological environment construction in ethnic regions duringthe Twelfth Five-Year Plan. The four research groups conductedsolid investigations and experimental researches to solve the problem of theefficient use and pollution control of rhodochrosite, and achieved certainresults. As the leading unit, SCUN will continue to cooperate with enterprisesand other universities to promote the further optimization andindustrialization of project results, strive to become a benchmark in thisfield, and make greater contributions to school construction and socialdevelopment.
