Academic Capabilities of SCUN's Library Entered Top 100 in China's Undergraduate Colleges and Universities

Recently, LIS Index of 2018 Academic Capabilities ofLibraries Ranking was formally released. In the national library rankingsof undergraduate colleges and universities, SCUN ranks the 72nd, ranking firstin the libraries directly subordinate to the National Civil Affairs Commissionand ranking third in university libraries in Hubei Province.

The LIS Index is an index evaluating the overallstrength of domestic library and information and archival agencies. Itsevaluation system covers 4 categories and 17 indicators like scientificresearch ability, discipline quality, social assessment and negativeindicators. The LIS Index is a more scientific, weighted andmulti-level comprehensive evaluation report in line with the characteristics ofthe discipline. The country's first rankings released this time ranked five categories:undergraduate college libraries, higher vocational college libraries,professional libraries, public libraries, and party and government libraries.The rankings basically displayed the academic capabilities of various types oflibraries in Chinese mainland.

Inrecent years, SCUN's library has achieved remarkable results in scientificresearch, academic services and social services. In terms of scientificresearch, adhering to service-oriented scientific research and promoting servicesthrough scientific research, we have obtained approval of 70 scientificresearch projects of national and provincial level, published 156 academicpapers, and got 8 scientific research awards. In terms of subject services, wehave provided several colleges with support materials to apply for doctoral andmaster's degrees, purchased literature resources and developed individualizedtraining lectures at colleges to provide information support and knowledgeservices for discipline construction. In the aspect of social services, we havedeveloped in-depth information consulting services, approved the establishmentof Country and Regional Research Recording Center of Ministry of Education,Hubei Provincial Research Center for Ethnic Religion Opinions, activelyparticipated in the assessment and research of the demonstration and creationof the public cultural service system in Hubei Provincial Department ofCulture, and steadily improved social openness services and actively supportedfor development of cultural and educational undertakings in ethnic areas andreceived high praise by all sectors of society.
