Famous Pipa Player Wu Yuxia Appointed as a Distinguished Professor of SCUN

On the afternoon of August 10, a delegation of four visited SCUN. Among them was famous Pipa player Wu Yuxia who had been appointed as a distinguished professor of SCUN. A meeting was held at the conference room of the School of Music and Dance. Leaders of SCUN Li Jinlin and Li Junjie, principals of relevant departments and colleges (schools), as well as Zhong Jianbo, an alumnus of SCUN and general manager of Ningbo Industrial Investment Group, attended the meeting. Li Junjie, vice-president of SCUN, presided over the meeting.

SCUN president Li Jinlin first delivered a welcome speech and then introduced the general situation of SCUN and the original intention and process of the establishment of the School of Music and Dance. “We hope teacher Wu Yuxia can provide more guidance and help to our School of Music and Dance in terms of discipline construction, introduction and cultivation of young teachers and development of student training programs. At the meeting, president Li Jinlin awarded the Letter of Appointment for Distinguished Professors.    

Ga Zang,the dean of the School of Music and Dance, introduced the school running condition and the school’s achievements in international and domestic art competitions, art creation and other aspects.

Teacher Wu Yuxia exchanged ideas with the representatives present at the meeting. Based on her own rich experience in performance and teaching, she analyzed in depth the current situations and methods of art student education and put forward the idea that “character determines destiny”. In her opinion, the School of Music and Dance should adhere to the characteristics of universities for nationalities, develop characteristic minority music instruments, carry forward the artistic talents of minority students and develop a proper training program for them as much as possible. In addition, she also offered specific guidance on international and domestic exchanges of students for the School of Music and Dance.

Teacher Wu Yuxia and her entourages also visited the Museum of Ethnology and the campus of SCUN and inspected the teaching facilities of the School of Music and Dance.
