SCUN Wins Special Awards in the 1st National Exhibition of College Achievements in Creative Education of Innovation & Entrepreneurship

During October 19-21, the 52nd Higher Education Expo China themed “Commemorate the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up, build a strong country of higher education” was held in Chengdu, which was organized by China Association of Higher Education. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Branch of China Association of Higher Education, Central South University, Southwest Jiaotong University and Zhejiang University jointly presented the 1st National Exhibition of College Achievements in Creative Education of Innovation & Entrepreneurship and the theme forum, where four special awards were published. Two works of SCUN were selected for the achievement exhibition, among which the work 7890 National Animation and Creative Product Development won a special award, thus breaking through SCUN’s zero record of winning a national-level special award in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions.       

A total of 133 works of great achievements in creative education of innovation and entrepreneurship from more than 60 universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Central South University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Fudan University were exhibited. Four works from SCUN, Southwest Jiaotong University, Tongji University and Central South University won the special awards, 14 works from 14 universities won the first prizes, 19 works from 18 universities won the second prizes, and 33 works from 32 universities won the third prizes.     

Two teams of SCUN received great attention and high praise from the expert judges and the present teachers and students at the exhibition.

The work 7890 National Animation and Creative Product Development instructed by professor Pan Zejiang and associate professor Wu Moshuo (team members: Liu Yun, Zhong Yuanxin, Zhang Yujing, Deng Xiaowei, and Wang Liwei) combines extensive and profound excellent national traditional culture with the ways of spreading popular culture from the perspective of animation. The product type crosses over animation, comic and mini-game, with comic strips on large platforms as the main way of spreading. Its click rate has broken through 300 million times on Tencent’s comic platform and 180 million times on China Mobile’s www.migudm.cn. The team has won more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial-level awards and honors such as Internet Plus and “For Youth”. At present, it has the funds to focus on the development of original IP, and it has signed labor contracts with more than 20 SCUN graduates from minority areas, aimed at developing a well-known IP with its own intellectual property rights. 

The work TeaBoy: A Functional Tea Brand Leading the Youth instructed by professor Pan Zejiang (team members: Jin Ke, Wang Lixin, Liu Shihan, Mao Fu, Ke Jialan, Zhou Mi, and He Juncai) adopts the concept of “Internet Plus” and pays attention to the R&D of tea food and tea drinks, trying to create a world-famous functional tea brand of the young generation. This achievement exhibition focuses on the education and cultivation of college students’ innovation spirit, entrepreneurship and creative ability. All works in the shortlist are high-tech, which reflect the discipline characteristics of China’s higher education since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. These works jointly created by teachers and students also reflect the features of colleges’ creative education of innovation and entrepreneurship. All these works have won provincial-level first prizes (gold awards) or above awards in College Students’ “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, “Challenge Cup” National Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Work Competition for College Students, “For Youth” China College Students’ Entrepreneurship Competition, National Undergraduate Electronics Design Contest, National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students, National College Mechanical Innovation Competition, National Competition of Transport Science and Technology for Students, National Undergraduate Engineering Training Integration Ability Competition, National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving & Emission Reduction and other national-level competitions.
