During October 17-19, the 2ndStudent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Pharmacy and TraditionalChinese Medicine and Reforms in Practical Education and Training Competition,which was organized by the HigherEducation Pharmacy Specialty Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry ofEducation and the Joint Committee of State-level Experimental TeachingDemonstration Center and presented by Tianjin University, was held in TianjinUniversity. Teachers and students of our School of Pharmaceutical Sciences won twofirst prizes and a second prize.
This competition is thehighest-level competition in China’s field of student innovation andentrepreneurship in pharmacy and TCM and practical education reform, which hasextensive influences. Further improving the ability and level of innovation andentrepreneurship, promoting practical education reform and reinforcingexchanges and cooperation between domestic and foreign institutions are thethemes of the competition. A total of more than 500 teachers and students from62 well-known Chinese universities such as Tianjin University, ChinaPharmaceutical University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, ZhejiangUniversity, Xiamen University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Huazhong University ofScience and Technology and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicineas well as a number of world-famous universities in the United States, Germanyand Switzerland attended the competition.
The competition was dividedinto the domestic group and the international group, and famous educationspecialists in pharmacy and experts in business circles were invited to act asthe judges. After going through fierce competition in four sections –preliminary assessment, defense, appraisal, and presentation, the experimentalteaching reform program DNAIdentification of Fritillary Bulb of our teacher Xu Jing won a first prize;the innovation andentrepreneurship program Preparation andCharacterization of IPN Intelligent Hydrogel Drug Sustained-release Systemof students Gan Qiulan, Ji Muse, Li Qianrong and Wang Xinya instructed byassociate professor Hu Yan and the innovation and entrepreneurship program Purification Process and Determination ofTotal Flavonoids in the Leaves of Garcinia Xanthochymus of students ChenQi, Wu Yu, Li Yuan and Yao Jun instructed by associate professor Wang Debin wona first prize and a second prize respectively.
