On June 20, the 2019 ranking of Nature Index (from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018) was released. In the list of TOP 200 universities, SCUN ranked 137th in mainland China and 777th in the world. Compared with the previous year, SCUN's ranking in mainland China has increased by 2 spots, and its ranking in the world has increased by 115 spots.
Natural Index was first proposed in November 2014. It is mainly based on the number of research papers published in the world's most influential academic journals such as Nature, Science and Cell in the previous year. Periodicals included in Natural Index fall into four categories: chemistry, earth and environmental science, life science and physics. The number of periodicals has increased to 82 by June 2018. Natural Index is not only an important tool for analyzing academic achievements, but also helps to clarify the changing trend of high-quality scientific research output and scientific research cooperation mode. It has become one of the important indicators for evaluating the output of high-level academic achievements of scientific research institutions.
For a long time, SCUN has attached great importance to the level and quality of scientific research output and has given all-round support to scientific researchers. SCUN gives reward to staff whose papers get published in periodicals included in Nature Index. To boost international cooperation, SCUN encourages teachers to go out and introduce in to deepen exchanges and cooperation between universities at home and abroad that lead to continuous high-level scientific research output.
