Five Projects Recognized as Provincial Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Projects

Recently, Hubei Provincial Department of Education announced the results of the first provincial virtual simulation experiment teaching projects. A total of 72 projects in the province have been recognized. Five virtual simulation experiment teaching projects in SCUN were recognized as the projects. They are: virtual simulation experiment of drug-target interaction led by Wang Qiang of the College of Pharmacy; virtual simulation experiment of supercritical CO2 extraction of sesame oil led by Xiao Yang of the College of Chemical Materials; application of derivative-solid phase extraction combined technology in determination of trace formaldehyde in complex matrix led by Zhang Huijuan of the College of Chemical Materials; virtual simulation experiment of CT imaging principle and application and virtual simulation experiment of medical imaging technology led by Xie Qinlan of the College of Health Sciences.

The main subject of project construction and application of virtual simulation experiment teaching project is ordinary undergraduate colleges and universities. Its fundamental aim is to promote moral education by universities. Its basic component is the construction of experimental teaching projects. All these are important means to improve the existing practical teaching system and the quality of experimental teaching. The Forty Articles of Higher Education in the New Era proposes to vigorously promote the construction of virtual simulation experiments. The golden course of virtual simulation is recognized as one of the five types of golden courses by the Ministry of Education, which shows that the Ministry of Education attaches great importance to virtual simulation experimental teaching.

It is known that the five projects have been recognized after obtainingthe approval to build a provincial-level biomedical engineering virtual simulation experimental teaching center and a provincial-level national fine arts virtual simulation experimental teaching center, which is a great achievement made by SCUN in promoting the in-depth integration of information technology and higher education, strengthening the construction and application of high-quality teaching, and improving practical and moral education. The Provincial Department of Education required that all provincial virtual simulation experiment teaching projects should be open to and offer courses for universities and the society free of charge within one year. No less than 50% of the free teaching services should be open to the society within one to three years and no less than 30% after three years. SCUN will continue to strengthen the construction of virtual simulation experiment teaching projects, enhance the guarantee measures for project construction, improve project contents, explore new teaching modes combining online and offline teaching, and promote the continuous and steady improvement of the quality of experimental teaching in SCUN in accordance with the relevant documents issued by the Ministry of Education and the requirements of the Provincial Department of Education as well as the actual situation of SCUN.
