SCUN Supported 150 Undergraduates To Go Abroad For Study

On the morning of July 1, the mobilization meeting for the first SCUN-supported undergraduates going abroad for study was held at the academic exchange center. General party secretary Bian Jing, Principal Li Jinlin, Vice Principal Du Dongyun, heads of relevant departments and party secretaries and deans of all colleges attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Du Dongyun. 

Pang Jianhua, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, introduced the work of assisting undergraduates to go abroad for study. A total of 331 undergraduates from 16 colleges applied to participate in 16 medium and long-term projects and 3 short-term projects. 150 of them passed the evaluation and will study abroad. 

E Yi Li De, a fully-funded Class-2017 student from Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, made a speech at the meeting in which she expressed her gratitude to SCUN for giving her the opportunity to study abroad. She promised to be strict with herself, study hard and demonstrate the elegant demeanor of SCUN students. 

Li Jinlin praised the work of assisting undergraduates to study abroad, and congratulated the students who received financial support from SCUN. He expressed his hope that the assisted students should establish lofty goals and shoulder their due responsibilities, appreciate diversified foreign cultures, broaden international horizon, strengthen adaptability and improve comprehensive quality. He made requirements to the International Cooperation and Exchange Department and all colleges on strengthening internationalized school running. 

Bian Jing pointed out that this assistance program was aimed at promoting internationalized school running and creating a new situation in the foreign affairs work of SCUN. He required the funded students to observe discipline, pay attention to safety, experience more and study hard, conduct in-depth analysis, improve language ability and communication skill and spread the Chinese culture and the culture of SCUN overseas. He required all departments to make joint efforts to streamline relevant procedures and improve relevant systems to support the students studying abroad. He also required all colleges to pay close attention to students' living and studying conditions abroad and improve the quality of education. 

At the meeting, the Academic Affairs Office introduced the status management and daily management of exchange students, the academic management of non-academic exchange students, and the graduation examination of academic exchange students. The Student Affairs Department and the International Cooperation and Exchange Department introduced how to deal with cultural differences and matters concerning foreign affairs discipline.
