A song entitled “A Song for Volunteers Fighting Epidemic, which was jointly created by teachers of SCUN, was recently published online to pay tribute to volunteers on all fronts who had made selfless contributions to Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, a large number of volunteers have demonstrated great courage and made selfless contributions to epidemic prevention and control. Zhao Jing, a teacher in the Vocal Music Teaching and Research Section of the School of Music and Dance of SCUN, having witnessed the touching deeds of community volunteers, had an idea of writing a song for them. She said, Thanks to their hard work, the basic living needs of community residents during the epidemic period were guaranteed. As a member of the Publicity Department of the Party branch, I have the responsibility to write a song to pay tribute to the lovable volunteers and to spread their positive values.
Deeply moved by the selfless dedication of the volunteers, Professor Duan Chao, Vice President of SCUN; and Yang Bin, a professor of School of Literature and Journalism of SCUN, agreed to write lyrics for the song with pleasure. They said, Although the volunteers didn’t treat patients in the battle against the epidemic like doctors or nurses, they were still warriors who didn’t flinch in times of danger. Instead, they have made tremendous contributions, including escorting patients to hospitals, transporting materials for epidemic prevention and control, participating in the construction of Huoshenshan and Leishenshan Hospitals as well as mobile cabin hospitals, and mounting round-the-clock guards in communities. They have done an outstanding job in epidemic prevention and control, and some of them even sacrificed their lives. They are heroes, and we must learn from heroes, praise heroes, and pay tribute to heroes!

After the song was written, Zhao Jing invited other teachers in the Vocal Music Teaching and Research Section to sing this song together, and they all agreed with pleasure. Zhao Jiewei, the composer of the anti-epidemic song I want to see it, was the first to accept the invitation. Because she was teaching online and taking care of her child who was studying in high school at that time, she could only practice singing the song with her colleagues in her spare time. To sing this song well, the invited teachers often communicated with each other in their spare time, and sometimes they even discussed the details of singing the song late into the night.
Due to the epidemic, they could only record the song through their mobile phones. Full of admiration for the volunteers, Shen Yang, Yang Guoliang and Cheng Le finished recording the song at home with full respect within just two days despite difficulties, and the final effect was amazing.
During the epidemic, Yang Guoliang, Zhao Jiewei and other teachers participated in community volunteer service activities many times and have contributed a lot to epidemic prevention and control for communities. Volunteers come from all walks of life, and their spirit of not fearing risks, forging ahead, and selfless dedication regardless of gains and losses has touched us all. They have displayed the spirit of responsibility of contemporary volunteers, and set a good example for us.” said Zhao Jing, whose reverence for the volunteers is beyond words.
In March when the flowers are blossoming, good news of epidemic prevention and control came one after another, and it won’t be long before we gather in the school again. During the battle against the epidemic, all volunteers are heroes who have tried their best to win the battle. I hope the students of SCUN will remember what the volunteers have done, inherit and carry forward the valuable national spirit, and make their own contribution to the development of our country with what they have learnt. said Duan Chao to students of SCUN.
