Three students of SCUN won 2019 China Telecom Scholarship

Recently, the results of the 2019 “China Telecom Scholarship” selection were announced in Beijing. Lan Jirong, a grade-2017 postgraduate from School of Resources and Environmental Science; Ren Pengfei, a grade-2018 postgraduate from School of Economics; and Ma Lishuai, a grade-2017 undergraduate from School of Education, won the 2019 “China Telecom Scholarship·Fei Young Award”.

Lan Jirong has won honors of National Excellent College Students Volunteer, the First Prize of Extracurricular Academic Scientific and Technological Works Competition for College Students in Hubei Province, and the First Prize of Professor Wu Zelin Scholarship in SCUN. Ren Pengfei, as the leader of the 19th Postgraduate Volunteer Teachers’ Team of SCUN, led a team to Naidong Middle School in Shannan County, Tibet to provide one-year volunteer teaching service, and was honored as a national outstanding individual in social practice. Ma Lishuai was awarded the honors of The Stars of Self-improvement of Chinese College Students in 2018, and participated in the Love and Develop My Motherland speech contest held by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the 21st Century Cup national college students' English speech contest, and has achieved excellent results.

“China Telecom Scholarship” was jointly established by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Telecom Group Corporation and All-China Students' Federation. It aims to implement Xi Jinping's Thought of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era; discover and publicize outstanding college students; and promote the spirit of setting lofty ideals, patriotism, shouldering the responsibility of the times, being brave in struggling, developing extraordinary skills and cultivating noble character so that more college students will make unremitted contributions to achieve the Two Centenary Goals and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. A total of 1,700 students finally won the Scholarship through college recommendation, first-round review at provincial level and national evaluation.
