Recently, the list of Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Bases of the National Civil Affairs Commission (NCAC) was announced, and the “Digital Development and Governance Research Center in Ethnic Areas” led by Professor Zhang Jinsong from the School of Management of SCMU was listed among them.
The NCAC Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base is a research base established by a nationality college and approved and named by the National Minority Commission, which is an important platform to conduct basic research and applied research in the humanities and social sciences, gather and train outstanding academic and innovative talents, and carry out high-level academic exchanges, also a high-level research base that reflects the scientific research strength of the construction unit and undertakes major national research projects. The "Digital Development and Governance Research Center in Ethnic Areas" conducts related theoretical and practical research centering on the research directions of "digitalization and governance capacity modernization in ethnic regions, innovative development of digital economy in ethnic areas, and social governance in ethnic areas under the Internet background". The construction of this research center will provide theoretical basis and decision support for the economic and social development of ethnic areas under the background of the Internet and big data. On one hand, through the use of digital technology to realize the late-comer advantages of ethnic regions, it provides new solutions for improving the level of economic and social development of ethnic areas, and promoting the governance and governance modernization of ethnic affairs. On the other hand, the center will also actively carry out relevant research on the theory and practice of ethnic work under the background of the Internet, becoming a crucial platform for advancing the "Internet + ethnic unity" action and forging the consciousness of the Chinese nation's community.
The "Digital Development and Governance Research Center in Ethnic Areas" has 4 research offices: Big Data Application Research Office in Ethnic Regions, Digital Economy Research Office in Ethnic Areas, Research Office of Modernization of Governance Capabilities in Ethnic Areas, and Social Governance Research Office in Ethnic Areas. As a multidisciplinary research center, the humanities base will become an important carrier for integrating internal and external research resources, and conducting scientific research and talent training, which is of great significance to promote the construction of management, ethnology, economics, information science and other related disciplines and improvement of school-running level, to better serve the national strategic needs, and to implement the mission of SCMU.
