On May 6, SCMU and Fudan University jointly held an online theme Youth League activity and exchange meeting for youth representatives on Inheriting the Spirit of the May 4th Movement and Winning the Battle Against the Epidemic. The relevant responsible persons of the Youth League Committee of the two universities, the responsible persons of the Youth League Committee of the College, the representatives of the secretary of the grass-roots League branch, students representatives from the student union at the university and college levels, and nearly 300 young students, including representatives of anti-epidemic volunteers, representatives of members of postgraduate volunteer teachers’ team, and representatives of overseas students, gathered together to share their anti-epidemic stories, stories of their growth, and feelings on youth.

Youth representatives of the two universities shared their experiences and feelings in anti-epidemic medical service, voluntary service, scientific research, and volunteer teaching activity. Ma Wanling, a representative of students who stayed at school introduced her study and life at school during the epidemic. Liu, a patient of COVID-19 epidemic who had recovered, shared his experience of contracting the illness, receiving medical treatment and recovery, and expressed his gratitude to the Party, the government, the society and all the medical staff. Yang Mo, a representative of medical workers and a doctor of the school hospital, and Dr. Zhang Yeqi, a representative of medical workers dispatched by Fudan University to aid Hubei province, shared touching stories about their fight against the epidemic. Li Yibei, a student of SCMU and a representative of community volunteers; and Peng Shiqi, a student of Fudan University, shared their unforgettable experiences of volunteering during the epidemic. Lan Shanhua, a member of SCMU’s postgraduate volunteer teachers’ team who was providing voluntary teaching service in Laifeng County, Enshi, Hubei Province, shared her experience of offering online courses in the local county during the epidemic. Zhang Zihao, who had been qualified as a postgraduate student in Fudan University, shared his growth experience with a speech entitled The Love of SCMU, A Dream in Fudan University, and a Story of Youth, and expressed his gratitude with an erhu solo I Love you, China. Jiang Longquan, a young doctor from Fudan University, shared how he and his team applied AI technology to COVID-19 diagnosis, which was inspiring.

The youth representatives agreed that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the young people of the two universities, adhering to the motto of Rich in Knowledge and Tenacious of Purpose; Inquiring with Earnestness and Reflecting with Self-practice and “Faithfulness, Learning, Harmony and Generosity”, had actively participated in epidemic prevention and control, and voluntary service; carried forward the spirit of the May 4th Movement with actual deeds; and shouldered the responsibility of the times with indomitable struggle.
They said that as the Youth Day approached this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a message to the youth of the new era that Young people will be more brilliant through trials and tribulations, and life will be raised to a higher level through struggle, which had greatly encouraged the young people to achieve their dreams and write more brilliant chapters of the times through hard work. They said that young students of the two universities should act in accordance with the requirements and expectations of General Secretary Xi Jinping, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, stand firmly with the people, develop excellent skills, devote themselves to the great cause of building a more powerful nation, and make more contribution to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
On the occasion of commemorating the 101st anniversary of the May 4th Movement, as epidemic prevention and control was being normalized; and work, production and study were about to be resumed soon, the youth representatives of the two universities jointly brought forward a proposal that students of both SCMU and Fudan University should help each other like a family, make more contribution to the development of our country, achieve greater victory in epidemic prevention and control, acquire more knowledge and skills, observe personal and public morality, and aim at absolute perfection in morality.
It is reported that from January 23 to February 21, 11 affiliated hospitals of Fudan University have sent a total of 497 medical workers in 10 batches to support Wuhan in the fight against the epidemic. On April 8, the Ministry of Education launched the one-on-one campaign to forge partnership between colleges and universities of Hubei province and other provinces in students’ employment and entrepreneurship, Fudan University was responsible for supporting SCMU. The Youth League Committees at all levels of SCMU will study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's message, and strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between young students of the two universities in ideological guidance, voluntary service, innovation and practice, and many other aspects in accordance with the requirements and arrangements of the Party Committee of SCMU so as to train the young students from various ethnic groups to become outstanding talents.
