From November 7 to 8, the international cultural activity of World Conference on Chinese costume, organized by the Hubei Provincial Chinese Costume Culture Research Association, the Hubei People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and the Wuhan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, was held in Wuhan Yellow Crane Tower Park. As one of the co-organizers, SCMU was responsible for the opening performance of Chinese Costume Show Gala. The United Front Work Department, the Youth League Committee, the Federation of Overseas Chinese and other departments of SCMU organized nearly 70 students to complete the performance task, which was well received by the organizers and people from all walks of life.

To complete the performance tasks perfectly, all departments made concerted efforts in costume selection, show arrangement, audio and background video production, etc. Zhou Hui, a teacher of School of Music and Dance, was invited to serve as the instructor who provided one-month training for students of all ethnic groups selected from the etiquette team, the national flag class and various schools. On the evening of the performance, the students wore different national costumes and showed to the audience from all over the world the colorful national culture and the high spirit of SCMU students. The Gala began with the show of the costumes of 56 ethnic groups of China in order to demonstrate the great unity of the Chinese nation and its splendid costume culture. The Gala reached its climax with the performance of the Chinese costume culture based on the three sections in the Book of Songs.
With Chinese costume as the theme, the conference displays the cultural heritage of the 5,000-year Chinese civilization, which is comprised of the Chinese Costume Show Gala, the Chinese costume flash mob, Celebrity Forum, an exhibition of Chinese cultural allusions, and a photography competition of Huashangqiuyun. In addition to undertaking the task of the opening performance, SCMU experts were also invited to participate in the Celebrity Forum on Chinese costume culture and other activities.
