In the morning of April 24th, the 11th “Navigation” Cup (South-Central Union) Practical Education Event and the Grand Final of the Case Study Contest based on “ Observation of the Two Sessions” opens in SCMU. Song Fajun, deputy Party secretary and vice-president of SCMU, together with presidents and vice presidents of the School of Marxism Studies and contestants from brother universities, participated this event online or offline. They came from Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Central China Normal University, Wuhan University of Technology, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan Textile University, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan Institute of Technology. Opening ceremony was presided by Huang Yingxin, director of the academic affairs office.
Song Fajun delivered the opening speech. He briefly introduced the background of the event, pointing out that the “Navigation Cup” series aims to offer participants a platform for exchange and display. He hoped that in the ideological-political courses, young students could improve their ability to link theory to practice, establish lofty ideals and beliefs and live the core socialist values. The contest has also been expected to promote academic study.

In the Grand Final of the Case Study Contest, 11 teams focusing on the two sessions, selected hot issues of social concern as green transition, aging of population, patriots administering Hong Kong, industrial development of northeast China, protection of minors, future education development, rural revitalization and Shanghai’s fight against COVID-19. After putting forward their own insights with profound analysis, two teams were awarded the first prize. Huang Yiyingzhi’s team from SCMU successfully won the highest score of the contest.
Liang Weijun, president of the School of Marxism Studies in Huazhong Agricultural University, made comments, saying that with clear thoughts and profound analysis, the contestants displayed active and critical thinking, rigid logic, keeping up with current affairs, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Yang Jinzhou, president of the School of Marxism Studies in SCMU, summarized. He said “Navigation Cup” series has successfully integrated in-class teaching with extracurricular activities, thus deepened the reform and innovation of Hubei’s ideological-political courses. It has also enhanced the communication among students from different universities, and demonstrated young generation’s love for the Party and the country as well as their ability to combine theory and practice.
It is reported that “Navigation Cup” series, jointly organized by schools of Marxism Studies from 11 universities in Wuhan, consists of “Marxist Classic Literature” Speech Contest, “Embrace the 20th CPC National Congress, Together for a Shared Future” Poster Design Competition, “The Communist Party of China in My Heart” Micro Video Competition, “China’s Story” Speech Competition and other events, which will last until late June.
