On July 26, SCMZU and the Tibet Autonomous Region Ethnic Affairs Commission signed a strategic cooperation agreement to better serve the economic and social construction in ethnic areas and promote high-quality development of ethnic affairs in the Tibet Autonomous Region in the new era.

Based on the economic situation of the Tibet Autonomous Region and the reality of ethnic colleges and universities, the school and the local government have thoroughly implemented the guiding principles of the Party’s 19th National Congress and all plenary sessions of the 19th Party Central Committee as well as the seventh Central Symposium on Tibet Work and the Central Working Conference about Nationality Affairs, etc. While undertaking the mission of running ethnic colleges and universities in the new era, firmly promoting the work of fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, both sides will vigorously implement the linkage strategy of the government, universities, and ethnic regions. The two sides, adhering to the principles of “demand-oriented”, “project-based”, as well as “complementary advantages and  coordinated development to achieve win-win”, are committed to establishing a long-term, comprehensive and in-depth strategic cooperation between government and school. Meanwhile, the two sides will further carry out cooperation in theoretical research, personnel cultivation, education and training, consulting services, cultural prosperity, achievement transformation, and educational practice.

To ensure the smooth progress of cooperation, the two sides have established a cooperative working mechanism including cooperative liaison agencies, a joint meeting system, and an irregular visit system. Based on this, a leading group has been set up. The strategic cooperation lasts five years and will be renewed upon the expiration of the period under negotiation.
