On November 13, the 47th ICPC Asian Regional Competition came to a close, where SCMU’s team won a bronze medal, on the same stage with 470 teams from 247 universities.
Two teams were sent from SCMU to the competition, composed of the core members of the "ICPC Innovation Lab" of the School of Computer Science, including Xiang Shenghui, Gao Junjie, Chen Bolin who formed together the Sophomore team, and Chen Zhen, Wang Chuangrui, Xie Hanxuan as the Junior students team, among which the former one stood out with the bronze medal after a competitive 5-hour play.
The "ICPC Innovation Lab" has long been committed to the exploration of practical talent cultivation mode. The lab has always been fostering students’ ability, including social responsibility, independent learning, teamwork and innovation, and encouraged them to sample their efforts by participating in computer programming, algorithm design, algorithm programming competitions and other innovative scientific and technological activities.
The International Student Programming Competition is known as the "Olympics" in the field of computer software with a history of 50 years. It has now become the most influential university computer competition in the world, one of those highest in academic standard and biggest in scale.
