On July 27, SCMU had the honor of hosting Chantha Onxayvieng, Director of the Institute of Public Administration Research and Training from the Laos Ministry of Civil Affairs, along with a three-person delegation. University President Li Jinlin and Vice President Du Dongyun, accompanied by leaders from the School of Public Administration and the School of Marxism, warmly greeted the visitors.
President Li Jinlin spoke of the enduring and friendly ties between China and Laos, highlighting both countries’ shared socialist values and geographical bonds. He reminisced about successful past collaborations, covering staff exchanges, academic partnerships, civil servant training, and talent development. Li expressed enthusiasm for furthering this collaboration, emphasizing mutual respect, trust, and reciprocal learning and benefits, to strengthen the China-Laos relationship.
Chantha Onxayvieng acknowledged SCMU’s significant contributions to Laos’ public administration training. He pledged to foster collaborative projects, focusing on enhancing exchanges and cooperation in areas like civil service training, local government reforms, Party development, and grassroots governance.
During their two-day visit on July 27th and 28th, the delegation toured sites in Wuhan, including the East Lake High-Tech Zone Government Services and Big Data Bureau, and local communities and villages. These visits facilitated a valuable exchange of experiences and insights into China’s advanced local administrative practices.
SCMU has been actively involved in various cooperative projects with the Lao Ministry, especially in administrative management studies and training for Lao civil servants. Aligned with China’s “Belt and Road” initiative and the vision of a China-Laos community, SCMU aims to share China’s governance models globally, telling the “China story” and offering “Chinese wisdom” to assist Laos.
