On September 27, the National Commendation Conference for Ethnic Unity and Progress was held in Beijing. The School (Institute) of Chinese National Community Studies, SCMU was awarded the title of “National Model Collective for Ethnic Unity and Progress” by the CPC Central Committee and State Council.

To strengthen research on forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, SCMU established the nation’s first physical Institute of Chinese National Community Studies in September 2020, followed by the School of Chinese National Community Studies in November 2022. The two operate jointly. The University Party Committee has placed high importance on the development of the School (Institute), exploring “special zone style” policy support. Following the positioning as a “vanguard in political education” and adhering to “high starting point, high standards, and high quality” requirements, the university provides comprehensive support to accelerate the integrated construction of “school, institute, and base”, aiming to build an important talent training base, theoretical research base, and new high-end think tank for building the community for the Chinese nation in the new era.
Since its establishment, the School has consistently focused on and implemented its main mission, achieving significant results in theoretical research, publicity and education, policy advisory services, and talent cultivation related to forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. Many of its efforts lead the nation, making important contributions to strengthening the sense of community for the Chinese nation and advancing its construction. Faculty members participated in compiling the textbookIntroduction to Community for the Chinese Nation. The School received positive feedback in teaching competitions, demonstration classes, video recordings, and lecture activities organized by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission. Its teaching and research section for theIntroduction to Community for the Chinese Nationcourse was honored as an “Outstanding Grassroots Teaching Organization in Hubei Province”.
The School has secured multiple national social science projects related to “forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation” and is leading a major commissioned project by the United Front Work Department of Hubei Provincial Party Committee titledCompilation of Historical Materials on Chinese Ethnic Groups’ Communication, Exchange, and Integration: Hubei Volume. Related policy advisory reports have received over 100 instructions from provincial and ministerial-level leaders. The series of videos on “Stories of Ethnic Unity Told by the General Secretary” has garnered over 7 million views on “Xuexi Qiangguo” platform. Four members were selected for the National Ethnic Affairs Commission’s lecturing team, delivering over 100 lectures nationwide. In September 2024, the School was awarded the title of “National Advanced Collective in Education System” by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Education.
This year marks the first time the national commendation for ethnic unity and progress has been conducted in the name of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. A total of 352 national model collectives and 368 national model individuals for ethnic unity and progress were honored across the country.
