SCMU and CERNET Strengthen University-Enterprise Collaboration

On the afternoon of November 1st, SCMU held a collaboration meeting with the China Education and Research Network (CERNET) in Building No. 4. Attendees included Xu Fuquan, CERNET’s Hubei Province representative, and Song Fajun, SCMU’s Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President, along with leaders from the Publicity Department and the Information Technology Management Office. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Miao, Director of the Information Technology Management Office.

 

During the meeting, Xu Fuquan presented the 30-year development journey of CERNET and the latest progress of CERNET Corporation. Zhang Miao expressed gratitude to CERNET Corporation for operating the network. He noted that SCMU, as one of the first universities in Hubei Province to connect to CERNET in 1999, has seen significant advancements in campus network bandwidth.

Song Fajun highlighted the excellent support the university has received in EDU.CN domain services, dual network access with IPv4 and IPv6, interconnection among seven universities in Wuhan, and website security monitoring. He expressed hope for continued mutual benefits between the university and the company, encouraging the company to contribute more in innovation and technical expertise. He also urged the Information Technology Management Office to enhance promotion and lead in applying new technologies to further the university’s development.

Following the discussion, a plaque unveiling ceremony was held, with both parties committing to strengthen cooperation, advance the university’s digital transformation, and promote high-quality development in education.
