On December 1, SCMU held its 8th Science Popularization Presentation Competition at the Academic Exchange Center. The event was jointly organized by the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Institute of Scientific Research and Development, and the Museum of Ethnology. Song Fajun, Standing Committee Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President, attended the event. The competition jury consisted of Wu Shengbing, Director of Hubei Modern Agriculture Exhibition Center; Professor Li Hao from Air Force Early Warning Academy; Zhong Li, Party Secretary of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Lei Jianyun, Deputy Director of the University Journal Editorial Department; and Yang Haijian, Deputy Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
This year’s competition attracted unprecedented participation from 22 university units, with over 700 registrations marking a historical high. Following preliminary selections and recommendations at the school level, 113 faculty members and students advanced to the finals. Contestants delivered presentations covering academic disciplines including mathematics, chemistry, physics, and arts, as well as cutting-edge technological fields such as AI technology, optoelectronic information, biosecurity, and intelligent manufacturing. Their presentations, delivered with passion and confidence, demonstrated both strong presentation skills and a clear logical flow while vividly interpreting the charm of science, offering the audience an intellectual feast.

After a day of intense competition, in the faculty category, Liu Yang from the School of Literature, Journalism and Communication, Wang Zixuan from the School of Mathematics and Statistics, and Ma Huiling from the School of Marxism were awarded first prizes. In the student category, first prizes went to Wang Lele from the School of Marxism, Jiang Han from the Museum of Ethnology, and Ding Jialin from the School of Law. Fourteen participants, including Liu Huiling from the Center for Experimental Teaching and Engineering Training and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and He Xinrui from the School of Pharmacy, were awarded second prizes. Sixteen participants, including Jin Chengzhi from the School of Electronic Information Engineering and Chen Xin from the School of Literature, Journalism and Communication, received third prizes. Seventy-four students, including Li Yun from the School of Foreign Languages, were awarded excellence prizes.
