Turkmenistan Deputy Minister of Education Visits SCMU

On the afternoon of May 16, Turkmenistan Deputy Minister of Education Amanov Alexander led a two-member delegation to visit SCMU to learn about the university’s practices in fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation and its experience in ethnic pharmacy research, industry-academia collaboration, and application. University Party Committee Secretary Xu Yeqin and Party Committee Standing Committee Member and Vice President Ma Yutang warmly received the delegation at the Academic Exchange Center for discussions.

Xu Yeqin extended a warm welcome to Amanov Alexander and his delegation. He introduced the university’s history, distinctive disciplines, international Chinese language education programs, and the cultivation of Turkmenistan students. He noted that the university is actively advancing interdisciplinary development in “Chinese Nation Community Studies”, “Country and Region Studies”, “Artificial Intelligence”, and “Biomedicine”, emphasizing open international education and further deepening cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.


Amanov Alexander thanked the university for its invitation and warm hospitality. He reviewed the history of friendly exchanges between the two countries and introduced educational cooperation between Turkmenistan and China, as well as Turkmenistan’s educational reform initiatives. He noted that Turkmenistan is also a multi-ethnic country that values protecting traditional culture, expressing hope to expand cooperation with SCMU in ethnology research, ethnic pharmacy research, and international Chinese language education.


Following the meeting, Ma Yutang accompanied the delegation on visits to the university’s Ethnology Museum and School of Pharmacy. At the Ethnology Museum, the delegation gained in-depth understanding of the historical interactions and integration among China’s ethnic groups. Amanov Alexander also experienced the interactive electronic book display, turning pages with hand gestures to browse cultural artifacts and texts, and viewing 3D presentations of museum collections. During their visit to the Medicinal Plant Specimen Hall and the National Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching in Ethnic Pharmacy, the delegation showed great interest in the displayedYellow Emperor’s Inner Canon (Huang Di Nei Jing)and the university’s specially developed pharmaceuticals, continuously asking about related details.

Leaders from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Ethnology and Sociology, School of Electronic and Information Engineering, and School of Pharmacy participated in the activities. The delegation visited SCMU after concluding activities related to the 2025 World Conference on Digital Education.
