The Party Committee and Administration of the University placed high importance on the enrollment of undergraduate and preparatory students. In 2025, university leaders formulated high-level strategies and deployed comprehensive measures to enhance enrollment under the guiding principle of “structural adjustment, strengthened outreach, and quality improvement”. Xu Yeqin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, provided direct guidance on enrollment promotion and admissions. Liu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President, took a leading role in advancing the production of promotional materials, admissions consulting, and the enrollment process. Other university leaders, including Han Yefeng, Song Fajun, and Qin Rui, were also actively involved in guiding front-line enrollment and publicity efforts. Through the collaborative efforts of all university units, faculty, students, and alumni, new breakthroughs have been achieved in student recruitment.
Top-level planning laid a solid foundation. In 2025, the Ministry of Education further advanced enrollment reforms and expanded high-quality undergraduate admissions. The University’s Party Committee developed high-level strategies and implemented measures to optimize the program structure and improve the publicity mechanism. The university suspended enrollment for 8 programs and introduced 3 new ones, bringing the proportion of science and engineering programs to nearly 56%. Three experimental classes enrolled students for the first time, and 11 programs (categories) introduced modernized and specialized enrollment directions. An enrollment publicity framework characterized by “all-member participation, year-round integration, and all-round promotion” has taken initial shape, and a regular publicity approach combining “reaching out” and “bringing in” has begun to yield positive results.
SCMU Earns Acclaim as a "Treasure University". During the 2025 enrollment season, the university concentrated efforts on producing promotional materials that highlighted its distinctive strengths in the humanities, sciences, engineering, and arts—solidifying its reputation as a "Treasure University" among the public. Over 60 promotional videos, including the "President’s Perspective: Questions about the University" series, "Cloud Campus Tours," live streams on admission policies, and high-quality printed materials were produced to present a comprehensive image of the university. In-house media collaborated with more than 10 external platforms, including official outlets like China National Radio and specialized third-party websites, reaching millions of prospective students and parents. President Liu Yi personally led promotional efforts, with secondary units coordinating regionally, and faculty, students, and alumni collectively participating in over 110 admission consulting sessions while amplifying outreach online.
Compliance and Discipline Ensure Fairness. Throughout the enrollment process, university leaders repeatedly visited the admission site to offer guidance and encouragement. They emphasized strict adherence to regulations, policies, and discipline, urging staff to carry out admission work with a high sense of responsibility and mission. The entire process was conducted in a standardized, orderly, fair, impartial, and transparent manner, aiming for zero errors. Staff from discipline inspection and supervision authorities conducted full-process monitoring to ensure integrity.
Breakthrough in student source quality: In 2025, the university enrolled a total of 6,911 undergraduate and preparatory students, including 6,220 regular undergraduates, 394 preparatory students, 11 candidates from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities, and 286 second bachelor’s degree students. The final batch of admission notices was dispatched on August 5. Among regular undergraduate admissions across provinces, 23 provinces (74.2%) saw an improvement in the lowest admission rank for history or humanities-focused candidates, with eight provinces advancing by over 2,000 places and five by over 1,000 places. All of the top 13 source provinces by enrollment numbers showed progress. For physics or science-focused candidates, 21 provinces (70%) recorded a rise in the lowest rank, including five provinces improving by more than 10,000 places and another five by over 5,000 places. Among the 15 provinces contributing over 100 undergraduate students each, 80% showed enhanced lowest admission ranks across both arts and sciences.
In 2025, the university successfully completed undergraduate and preparatory enrollment with high quality, achieving a new breakthrough in student sources. This has laid a solid foundation for further enhancing the quality of undergraduate talent cultivation and supports the “Double First-Class” initiative with outstanding recruits.
