On September 9, on the eve of the 41st Teacher's Day, the school held the 2025 Teacher's Day Commendation Ceremony. With the theme "Forging and Empowering Teachers with the Spirit of Educators, Composing a Magnificent Chapter in Building a Strong Education Nation," the ceremony commended outstanding teacher representatives who have made contributions to the school's construction and development, set examples in adhering to the mission of fostering virtue through education, and been role models working at the forefront of management and services. It also extended festive greetings and best wishes to all teaching staff. Xu Yeqin, Secretary of the University Party Committee, delivered a speech at the ceremony, while Liu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President, presided over the meeting. All standing members of the University Party Committee present, representatives of retired teachers, representatives of faculty and staff with 30 years of teaching service, representatives of awarded teachers, and newly recruited teachers attended the meeting.
Song Fajun, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and Vice President, read out the commendation decisions for the 2024-2025 academic year. According to relevant documents, Fu Haiyan and 15 others were selected for national and ministerial-level talent programs; Wang Zhaopeng and 16 others received ministerial-level scientific research and teaching competition awards; Liao Hua and 155 others were awarded Outstanding Class Advisors; Ma Nan and 9 others were honored with the university's 8th Outstanding Educator Award; Zhou Xuemei and 9 others were awarded the university's 8th Outstanding Young Faculty and Staff Award; Ni Wenjun and 9 others were honored as the university's May Fourth Young Faculty and Staff Pioneers; Xu Heping and 43 others were honored upon retirement; and Huang Bao and 29 others were recognized for completing 30 years of teaching service.

Newly recruited teachers, filled with aspiration and respect for the education cause, presented flowers to their seniors who have dedicated 30 years to the educational front, expressing their most sincere respect and gratitude. The teachers with 30 years of service presented school badges to the new recruits, symbolizing the new generation of educators taking up the baton, inheriting the spirit of diligent dedication and selfless contribution from their advanced role models, and committing their youthful energy to the education cause.

Teachers Ling Yun from the School of Electronic Information Engineering, Chen Quangong from the School of Economics, Yao Shanghai from the School of Chinese National Community, and Zhang Meiqi from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science delivered speeches as representatives of awarded teachers, teachers with 30 years of service, retired teachers, and newly recruited teachers, respectively. Through warm, profound, and powerful sharing, they eloquently expressed the spirit of SCMU teachers—their rigorous scholarship, dedication to their posts, and professionalism—highlighting the illustrious image of the university's faculty and setting learning examples for the new teachers.
Xu Yeqin, on behalf of the university, extended festive greetings to all faculty and staff working diligently on the frontlines of teaching, research, management, and services. He expressed warm congratulations to the commended teachers, paid high tribute to the retired teachers who had devoted their lives to the Party's education cause, as well as to the former leaders and retired comrades who had poured their efforts and wisdom into the university's construction and development, and offered a warm welcome to the young teachers newly joining the SCMU family. He emphasized that the university is currently at a critical juncture: concluding the "14th Five-Year Plan," formulating the "15th Five-Year Plan," advancing the transformation and upgrading, and striving for the "Double First-Class" initiative. Facing the imperatives of building a strong nation and achieving national rejuvenation, he urged all faculty and staff to draw driving force from studying, reflecting on, and practicing the spirit of educators. With the courage to reform and innovate and a relentless drive to deliver concrete results, they should propel the university's transformation, upgrading, and high-quality development to new achievements. First, vigorously promote the spirit of educators and strive to be practitioners and pioneers in building a strong education system in the new era. Transform the spirit of educators into conscious thought and action and strive to become "great masters." This entails staying true to the original aspiration, nurturing profound national sentiment; cultivating virtue and striving to be paragons of professional ethics; advancing knowledge and enhancing teaching and educational capabilities; and embracing innovation, bravely undertaking the mission of educational reform. Second, focus on the "Double First-Class" construction goals and lead the university's high-quality development with the spirit of educators. Adhere to anchoring disciplinary development directions with a spirit of utmost dedication to the nation; improve the quality of talent cultivation with the wisdom of enlightening and nurturing minds; enhance scientific research and innovation capabilities with a spirit of seeking truth and innovation; and strengthen the foundation of team building with the ethos of leading by example. Coordinate and advance the university's "Double First-Class" construction comprehensively. Third, scientifically plan the "15th Five-Year Plan" and guide the university's development direction with the goal of building a strong education system. Persist in strengthening the university through talent, deepening institutional and mechanistic reforms; highlight distinctive positioning, finding the university's coordinates within the higher education system; empower through digitalization and intelligence, injecting momentum into the transformation and upgrading; and implement cultural leadership, pooling strength to compose a new chapter of development.
Liu Yi delivered the concluding speech. He pointed out that today's meeting was not only a celebration and commendation but also a gathering centered on implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, promoting the passing of the torch, and boosting morale for dedicated and promising endeavors. He hopes that all faculty and staff will forge their teaching strength with the spirit of educators, forge ahead with determination, and fully advance the university's "Double First-Class" construction and transformation and upgrading to achieve new breakthroughs. He also called for continued contributions of wisdom and strength to reinforce the sense of community for the Chinese nation and jointly compose a splendid chapter in building a strong education system in the new era.

At the meeting, Hu Junhao, Dean of the Undergraduate School, led the new faculty members in a solemn oath-taking ceremony. This profoundly demonstrated their sense of responsibility and firm determination to practice the spirit of educators and steadfastly remember the mission and duties of education. The ideological and political scenario lesson titled "Using the Spirit of Educators as a Torch, Forging the Soul of the Chinese National Community", jointly presented by Tian Yuanzi, a teacher from the School of Literature, Journalism & Communication, and student Huang Tianji, received warm applause.
