2025 Lancang-Mekong Ethnic Affairs Governance Training Program Is Held at Our University

On the morning of October 13th, the 2025 Lancang-Mekong Ethnic Affairs Governance Training Program, sponsored by the Department of International Exchange of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission of the PRC and organized by our university, commenced at the Academic Exchange Center of our university. Liu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University, Fang Debin, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University, along with relevant responsible persons from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the National Security School and the like, as well as instructors and all trainees of the program, attended the opening ceremony. Liu Yi delivered a speech. On behalf of the university, he extended a warm welcome to the 36 government officials, experts, and scholars from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam who came to participate in the seminar and exchange activities. He introduced the university's profile and reviewed the university's efforts in recent years to serve the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism, as well as its teaching, research, and cultural exchanges with the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) member countries. He expressed the hope that this training program would serve as an opportunity to deepen cooperation between the university and the five Mekong countries in academic exchanges, faculty and student visits, and talent cultivation. He stated that the university would design more“small yet effective”faculty and student exchange programs to contribute to serving the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation 2.0.

Fang Debin introduced the basic information and schedule of the training program, hoping that the participants would further enhance mutual understanding and deepen friendships during their studies.


It is reported that this training program will last for 14 days, covering 8 teaching sessions, 12 field study sessions, and 3 discussion and exchange sessions. During their stay at the university, five courses, including“Overview of China’s National Conditions”and“The Historical Evolution of the Chinese National Community”, will be offered. Participants will also be organized to conduct exchanges and discussions around the theme“Sharing Experiences in Ethnic Affairs Governance to Help Build a Lancang-Mekong Community with a Shared Future”.

After the on-campus activities, the training program participants will proceed to Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Urumqi, and other places for field study, and will go to Beijing for discussion and exchange sessions with relevant departments of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission of the PRC.
