Gathering in Shenzhen to Jointly Plan Development: Our University Holds Its First Alumni Entrepreneurs Annual Meeting

On October 18th, the first Alumni Entrepreneurs Annual Meeting of our university, hosted by the Alumni Association of the University and organized by the Alumni Association of Shenzhen, was held in Shenzhen. With the theme“Gathering Alumni Strength to Jointly Plan Cooperative Development”, the annual meeting attracted over 140 alumni entrepreneurs from across the country. They explored new opportunities for cooperation through the collision of ideas and outlined development blueprints while strengthening emotional bonds, striving to contribute wisdom and strength to building an emotional community, development community, and shared future for alumni and their alma mater.


Qin Rui, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University, led responsible persons and teachers from relevant units of the University including the Administration Office (Domestic Cooperation Office), the Office of Employment and Alumni Affairs, the Asset Management Co., Ltd., the School of Music and Dance, the Law School, the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, and the School of Computer Science (School of Artificial Intelligence) to attend the annual meeting. Qin Rui expressed respect for the achievements of the alumni entrepreneurs and gratitude for their long-term support to the development of their alma mater. He introduced the outstanding achievements made by the university in recent years in talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and other fields, and put forward three hopes to the entrepreneur alumni: first, to deepen university-enterprise cooperation, promote the alignment of the university's innovation chain with the enterprise industry chain, and contribute to the alma mater’s“Double First-Class”initiative; second, to strengthen horizontal linkages among alumni enterprises, break down regional and industry barriers, and build an "alumni economy" ecosystem; third, to accelerate the establishment of an Alumni Entrepreneurs Association, creating a regular collaboration platform to empower the career development of alumni.

The annual meeting featured a main venue sharing session and sub-forum discussions. In the main venue that morning, five specially invited alumni took the stage successively: Cai Min (Class of 1985, Biochemistry), Chairman of Tianjin Jinfeng Technology Development Co., Ltd.; Liu Yong (Class of 1998, Computer Science and Technology), Chairman of Edayun Technology Group; Li Yicheng (Class of 1995, Law), Partner of Lead Capital; Zhuo Mingyong (Class of 1999, International Economics and Trade), Office of the Party Committee for the Innovation Chain of Shenzhen’s Biopharmaceutical Industry; and Nie Qingping (Class of 2001, Computer Science and Technology), Chairman of Govandbiz. They delivered thematic presentations focusing on entrepreneurial experience, strategies for technology going global, the entrepreneurial spirit in the new era, biopharmaceutical policies, and new market development opportunities, respectively.

An alumni mentor appointment ceremony and an employment internship practice base awarding ceremony were also held during the event. Eleven alumni, including Zhang Fu, Hu Shengyao, and Zhao Guixin, were appointed as“Enterprise Mentors for Career Guidance”, and ten alumni enterprises, including Guangxi Yangxiang Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Bishang Education Technology Co., Ltd. and Hebei Lanhao Enterprise Management Co., Ltd., were awarded as“Employment Internship Practice Bases”.

The afternoon sub-forums conducted in-depth discussions around three topics:“Deep Integration of Industry-University-Research between University, Enterprise, and Locality, Empowering Ethnic Cultural Development with Digital Technology, Assisting the Alma Mater’s‘Double First-Class’Construction”,“Cooperation among Alumni Enterprises and High-Quality Overseas Expansion and Localization”, and“Promoting the Entrepreneurial Spirit and Establishing the Alumni Entrepreneurs Association”. Combining their own industry experience and enterprise needs, the alumni entrepreneurs actively offered suggestions and ideas. They recommended further leveraging the capital, technology, and network resources of alumni entrepreneurs to carry out cooperation in areas such as the introduction of national-level talents, joint scientific research projects, commercialization of research results, laboratory construction, and student internships and employment; further utilizing alumni industry experience to provide references for the alma mater’s innovation in major setting, discipline construction, and talent cultivation; further integrating the needs of alumni enterprises across different industries to achieve complementary advantages, share customer resources, explore markets, and enhance the market competitiveness of alumni enterprises; and further pooling alumni resources to establish the Alumni Entrepreneurs Association as soon as possible, regularly hold relevant activities, and strengthen communication and cooperation among alumni entrepreneurs.


The over one hundred alumni entrepreneurs participating in this meeting covered multiple fields such as medicine, artificial intelligence, new energy, cross-border e-commerce, and biopharmaceuticals, representing the backbone forces of various industries.


Many attending alumni entrepreneurs expressed that the annual meeting was grand in scale, well-organized, and rich in content, and they gained immensely from participation. They stated they would continue to pay attention to and support the development of their alma mater and actively participate in university-enterprise cooperation and collaboration among alumni. Ke Zuntao, Director of the Office of Employment and Alumni Affairs, stated that the university would take this annual meeting as a starting point, continuously improve the alumni work mechanism, deepen linkages with alumni enterprises, fully tap into the value of alumni resources, both to provide support for the career development of alumni and to inject more vitality into the university's "Double First-Class" construction and local economic and social development.
