On the morning of November 22, the final round of the 2025 President Scholarship Selection and Presentation Competition of South-Central Minzu University (SCMU) was held at the Optical Valley Concert Hall. Liu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of SCMU, and Li Hongyan, Member of the Party Standing Committee and Vice President of SCMU, attended the event. External expert judges, heads of relevant functional departments of the university, principal leaders from each college, representatives of teachers and students, as well as friends and family members of the contestants gathered at the venue. A large number of teachers, students, and parents also watched the ceremony simultaneously via online live streaming platforms, jointly witnessing the outstanding demeanor and youthful responsibility of the exemplary students.

Liu Yi delivered an opening speech titled "Pursuing Excellence with First-Class Standards and Leading the Way Forward with the Power of Role Models." He emphasized that the President Scholarship selection and presentation event not only serves as a lofty commendation of students' comprehensive qualities but also represents a concentrated review of "first-class standards," and moreover, constitutes a vivid and engaging public lesson on "the pursuit of excellence." He expressed three earnest hopes for all students: first, to cherish their honors and continue to strive, setting their sights on "first-class aspirations"; second, to learn from exemplary peers and advance hand in hand, walking the "path to excellence"; third, to accumulate strength over time and strive vigorously, cultivating "first-class conduct." He stated that the university will always adhere to the student-centered educational philosophy and spare no effort to build higher-level exchange platforms, provide superior learning resources, and foster a richer academic ecosystem for students of the SCMU, fully supporting every student's journey of growth and success.

On site, 26 candidates from various colleges took the stage in the order determined by lottery drawing. Centering around core dimensions such as academic performance, scientific research innovation, social practice, volunteer service, cultural and sports arts, and comprehensive qualities, they vividly narrated their youthful stories of striving for excellence and perseverance during their studies at the SCMU. The presentations by the candidates fully embodied the spiritual ethos of students at the university in the new era—characterized by a strong commitment to learning, a pioneering spirit, a deep concern for the nation and home, and a readiness to shoulder responsibilities. They set tangible, relatable, and learnable role models for all students.

After the presentation session, Li Hongyan delivered a concluding speech. She stated that the 26 outstanding students had presented a splendid showcase where thoughts and wisdom collided, and dreams and practical actions intertwined. Their performances epitomized a steadfast loyalty and commitment to walking in step with the nation, an unwavering pursuit of excellence through diligent learning and scaling new heights, a vibrant and pioneering spirit of innovation, as well as the precious qualities of integrating knowledge with action and being willing to contribute selflessly. She encouraged all students as follows: first, to set ambitious goals for national rejuvenation and shape the foundation of their lives with firm beliefs; second, to strive to become pillars of society and contribute to the university's leap forward through diligent efforts; third, to embark on the path of innovation and lead the trends of the times with breakthroughs.
