Dear faculty, students, and beloved alumni,
Time flows like a steady stream, and the seasons turn anew. At this beautiful moment of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new, we extend our warmest New Year greetings and best wishes to all faculty, staff, and students of all ethnicities, our retired veterans, and our alumni scattered across the globe!
The year 2025 marks a critical juncture—the successful conclusion of the “14thFive-Year Plan” and the strategic planning for the “15thFive-Year Plan”. Facing the era-defining questions of “What role does South-Central Minzu University play in building a leading country in education?” and “What role does the University play in forging the sense of community for the Chinese nation?”, our entire faculty, staff, and students united as one with resilience, collectively authoring a story of unity and progress.
The University’s “resilience” lies in forging unity of hearts and minds under the guidance of the Party flag.
We hold high the banner of faith, solidifying our ideological foundation. We solidly carried out educational activities to deeply implement the spirit of the Eight-point Regulation of the CPC Central Committee, advancing learning, investigation, and rectification in an integrated manner, continuously improving the long-term mechanism for enhancing Party conduct. We comprehensively studied and implemented the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20thCPC Central Committee, organizing propaganda teams to deliver over 60 lectures across faculties, integrating the spirit of the plenum into ideological and political courses such as “Introduction to the Community for the Chinese Nation”, thereby embedding the Party’s latest theoretical innovations in the hearts and minds of our community. We innovated the Party building working mechanism, implemented the “Forging · Excellence” initiative to enhance Party building, and selected 25 individuals to join the 14thbatch of the Hubei Provincial Doctoral Service Corps, strengthening the quality and efficiency of grassroots Party organization construction.
The University’s “resilience” lies in dedicated action driven by our mission.
We adhere to the principal line, consolidating the foundation for development. We advanced the construction of the College (Institute) of Community for the Chinese Nation with high standards, optimized the layout of secondary disciplines in Ethnology, and secured approval for the pilot interdisciplinary doctoral program in Studies of Community for the Chinese Nation. We successfully hosted high-level events such as the Third Forum on Forging a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation and the National Excellent Ethnic Minority Dance Works Performance. We conducted nearly 70 educational and promotional activities in ethnic regions, innovatively implementing the “‘Forging’ Program in Middle Schools”. One of our faculty members was honored as an “Advanced Individual in Ethnic Unity and Progress in Hubei Province”. The University stands at the forefront in building the common spiritual homeland for the Chinese nation.
The University’s “resilience” lies in the subtle and profound influence of fostering virtue through education.
We willingly serve as nurturing soil, caring for growing dreams. We innovated the education model, launching the pilot “integrated bachelor’s-to-doctoral programs”; held seminars on high school-university collaborative education, exploring new pathways in education with nearly 100 principals from middle schools across 8 provinces. Industry-university cooperation projects totaled 404. Our students won 302 national-level awards and 1,806 provincial-level awards. The graduate employment rate grew steadily. From home visits in border regions to signature activities like “A Little Flower for You” and “Welcome to Your Hidden Gem University”, we consistently invest heartfelt effort to empower students’ holistic development.
The University’s “resilience” lies in the transformation and upgrading of our disciplines.
We draw the blueprint, aiming for first-class standards. Led by the discipline cluster of Ethnology (Studies of Community for the Chinese Nation), we advance the “Double First-Class” initiative, pushing the disciplinary layout towards “excellence in humanities, strength in sciences, precision in engineering, and mastery in arts”. Disciplines, including Ethnology, Biology and Medicine, were selected for Hubei Province’s “71020” University Discipline Innovation System Construction Plan. Both the disciplines of “Computer Science” and “Pharmacology & Toxicology” entered the ESI top 1% worldwide. The University ranked among the global top 500 in the Nature Index 2025. Twelve courses were approved as the third batch of national first-class undergraduate courses. Several engineering programs received professional accreditation, significantly enhancing our international influence.
The University’s “resilience” lies in dedicated practice for the benefit of society through science and technology.
We root ourselves in societal needs, serving the community. Throughout the year, we secured 55 national-level projects and received 18 Hubei Provincial Social Science Achievement Awards. We hosted over 30 major academic exchange activities. We carried out the “Science Popularization Border Tour” and built the “University Spark Pavilion” science popularization platform. Faculty-student teams provided services to over 1,000 people in places like Baise, Guangxi. Six projects under the “Hundred Universities Unite with Hundred Counties to Revitalize Thousand Villages” initiative were successfully concluded. Sixteen faculty members were selected as “Deputy Chief Technology Officers”, continuously enhancing our ability to serve the modernization and development of ethnic regions.
The University’s “resilience” lies in consolidating the foundation through talent cultivation.
We cultivate fertile ground, gathering brilliant minds. We systematically implemented the “Three 100s” talent initiative, inviting over 20 academicians to lecture on campus and promoting the spirit of scientists. We advanced the “Seven One” Projects for Teacher Ethics Enhancement and continued to carry out themed activities like “Forging Strong Teachers through the Spirit of Educators”. Throughout the year, we introduced and cultivated 10 national-level talents and 27 provincial-ministerial level talents. Nineteen of our scholars were listed among the world’s top 2% of scientists, and 80 faculty members were recognized as “2025 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers”. We focus not only on creating an environment that attracts talent, but also on strengthening our foundation—nurturing faculty ethos and stimulating motivation with noble spirit.
Faculty, students, and alumni!
Looking back at 2025, every striving day shone brightly, and every persistent moment held profound meaning. We deepened governance, focused on development, implemented the “Breakout Action” and “Climbing Plan”, optimized institutional structures, improved educational conditions, and built a safe and harmonious campus. The resilience of our University is the vision of building on the past and paving the way for the future; it is the light burning late in the labs, the tireless figures at the podiums, the unceasing footsteps in the rural fields, the unending cheers on the sports field—it belongs to every down-to-earth, aspiration-driven SCMU members.
Looking ahead to 2026, the University’s Ninth Congress of Party Representatives is about to convene. The grander the blueprint, the greater the resilience needed to move forward. May every one of us forge ahead with determination and courage, letting every glimmer of light converge into a galaxy. On the great journey of building a leading country in education and achieving national rejuvenation, South-Central Minzu University will undoubtedly write its own brilliant chapter!
May our great motherland prosper and thrive! May South-Central Minzu University continue to flourish!
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year, good health, and may all your dreams come true!
