In late January, Professor Li Xiaokuan from the School of Pharmaceutical Science andWuhan Pamo Kangchuang Pharmaceutical Research and Development Co., Ltd. , the company he leads, have been making headlines with a string of honors. Leveraging outstanding innovative achievements in precision medicine and high-end analytical instrumentation, the team has been recognized with prestigious honors including the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Leading Team” and “Tangxunhu Lake Class C Talent” awards. Furthermore, their company has been designated as a “Silver Seeds Enterprise” — a backup listed company in Wuhan — demonstrating the University’s significant progress in integrating industry, academia, research, and application, as well as in cultivating high-level talent.
Among these accolades, the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Leading Team” title, conferred by Jiangxia District, Wuhan, fully recognizes Professor Li’s team for its organizational capabilities and market potential in technological innovation and the commercialization of research outcomes. The team’s independently developed PM3000 medical blood concentration analyzer has successfully obtained a Class II medical device registration certificate in China, with 95% of its core components being domestically produced.
Concurrently, Professor Li Xiaokuan has been designated as a “Tangxunhu Lake Class C Talent” by Jiangxia District, Wuhan. As a seasoned expert in two-dimensional liquid chromatography, Professor Li has long been dedicated to research, teaching, and industrial practice in analytical chemistry. He is not only the editor-in-chief of several industry-standard atlases and a recipient of the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, but also holds academic positions such as council member of a relevant branch of the China Instrument and Control Society and editorial board member of theChineseJournal of Pharmaceutical Analysis. This talent designation serves as a high-level recognition of his personal academic contributions, technological leadership, and role in driving entrepreneurship.
What's more, the enterprise founded by the team has been recognized as a “Silver Seeds Enterprise”. This recognition signifies that the viability of its business model, the advancement of its technology, and its growth potential have garnered significant attention from both the market and the capital sector. The company’s pioneering two-dimensional online solid-phase extraction technology has enabled intelligent and highly efficient blood concentration monitoring. A related project won the national silver award at the 2024 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition, establishing a complete innovation chain that spans core technology, patent portfolio, product launch, and formal recognition.
Professor Li Xiaokuan noted that this series of honors would not have been possible without the fertile ground for research and the supportive policies provided by the University. The team will continue to align with the national precision medicine strategy, deepen collaborations with platforms such as Wuhan Optics Valley Laboratory, and accelerate the market promotion and iterative upgrading of its series of products, including blood concentration analyzers.
