On March 5, as the 63rdLearning from Lei Feng Day and the 27thChina Youth Volunteer Service Day approached, the University’s “Lei Feng Volunteer Service Month” series of events took place with great enthusiasm. Guided by the University Youth League Committee, hosted by the University Youth Volunteers Association, and organized by the Youth Volunteers Associations of various schools, the events centered on putting the Lei Feng Spirit into practice. Through a volunteer service fair, public welfare activities, and interactive experiences, the initiative encouraged young students to engage in volunteer work and spread the spirit of dedication.

On the day of the events, the University Youth Volunteers Association set up a volunteer service fair in the square between the No. 1 and No. 2 canteens. Li Hongyan, Member of Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President, along with heads of the University Youth League Committee and student affairs offices from various schools, visited the fair. The fair, themed “Small Lights, a Great Torch: Following the Example of Lei Feng”, featured two main sections: project display and interactive experience. Among them, the “Qingxin Cup” Volunteer Service Project Competition showcased the signature projects of the Youth Volunteers Associations from each school. Through display boards, videos, and other diverse formats, the associations illustrated the essence of the Lei Feng Spirit and conveyed the values of volunteer service. Various student clubs on campus also participated in the fair, integrating their unique features through artistic performances and hands-on skill experiences, showcasing the vitality of young people while enhancing the event’s appeal and engagement. Interactive games such as knowledge quizzes and fun challenges were also organized, incorporating stories of Lei Feng into the activities. Participants who completed the tasks could enter a lucky draw, allowing them to appreciate the Lei Feng Spirit through entertainment and learning.

During the event period, the University Youth Volunteers Association coordinated and advanced several practical activities, including organizing a campus weeding initiative to improve the environment and facilitating the arrival of a blood donation vehicle on campus to spread kindness. These efforts helped the Lei Feng Spirit take root through hands-on labor and acts of giving. The events also featured an online theoretical learning program, with special courses and thematic seminars designed to deepen students’ understanding of the Lei Feng Spirit and the philosophy of volunteer service. In the coming weeks, a series of related activities, including the “Art Exhibition on Promoting the Lei Feng Spirit and the Dabie Mountains Spirit”, will be held to further enrich the scope and substance of the initiative.

It is reported that the University’s volunteer service efforts also extended beyond the campus. On March 4, the Dream-Chasing Voluntary Teaching Group and the Liuguang Xicai Volunteer Service Team took part in the “Learn from Lei Feng, Engage in Volunteer Service, Strive Together for the 15th Five-Year Plan” Jiangxia District 2026 Lei Feng Volunteer Service Month Launch Ceremony and Public Welfare Fair. Through showcasing their achievements and offering interactive experiences, they effectively expanded the brand influence of the University’s volunteer services.

This series of events served as a vivid example of the University’s commitment to “integrating Lei Feng Spirit activities into daily life and making them a regular practice”. A responsible person from the University Youth League Committee stated that the University will continue to deepen the development of its “Great Ideological and Political Course” brand, using volunteer service as a vehicle to guide young students at the University to follow the Lei Feng Spirit. Through everyday actions, they aim to convey and promote the volunteer spirit of “dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress,” injecting youthful energy into the contemporary call to “contribute at pivotal points and advance together through volunteerism”.
