University Approves Its First Dual Bachelor’s Degree Program in Interdisciplinary Talent Development

On April 8, the Academic Degrees Committee of Hubei Provincial People’s Government released itsApproval on Dual Bachelor’s Degree Programs in Interdisciplinary Talent Development for General Institutions of Higher Learning in 2026,granting approval to 12 programs across six universities in the province. The “Pharmacy + Ethnology” dual bachelor’s degree program in interdisciplinary talent development submitted by the University was successfully approved, becoming the University’s first such program.


The program is built upon two doctoral programs in first-level disciplines (Pharmacy and Ethnology) and two national first-class undergraduate program development sites, featuring solid disciplinary foundations and distinctive characteristics. Grounded in the national strategic needs of “Healthy China” and “Rural Revitalization”, and deeply implementing the “Two Combinations”, especially the “Second Combination ”, the program addresses the development needs of health services and ethnic medicine industries in ethnic regions. It aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents who master modern pharmaceutical theories and technologies, possessing professional competencies in drug development, quality control, and clinical pharmacy, while also being familiar with ethnic cultures and traditional ethnic medicine knowledge, and equipped with the competence for social service and cultural preservation in ethnic regions.


The program will enroll students through the national college entrance examination in 2026, with Pharmacy as the first major and Ethnology as the second major. The planned enrollment is 35 students. The program has a four-year duration. Graduates who fulfill the degree requirements will be awarded dual bachelor’s degrees, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Law. The program adopts an interdisciplinary dual-supervisor system, with collaborative management by the School of Pharmaceutical Science and the School of Ethnology and Sociology to ensure training quality.


According to the University, the approval of this program marks a milestone breakthrough in deepening undergraduate education and teaching reform, promoting interdisciplinary integration, and innovating composite talent development models at the University.
