On the afternoon of April 13, the University held its 2026 research work meeting. Attendees included Fang Debin, member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President; deans and vice deans in charge of research from each college; and all members of the Office of Scientific Research and Development. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Daohong, Director of the Office of Scientific Research Development.
At the meeting, representatives from the College of Community for the Chinese Nation and the School of Pharmaceutical Science shared their college-level experiences and future research ideas on organized research. Zhang Daohong gave a comprehensive summary of the University’s 2025 research work, conducted a comparative analysis of the current shortcomings and weaknesses in the University’s research efforts, explained the core tasks and strategic direction of the University’s research work for the 15thFive-Year Plan period, and made arrangements for key research tasks in 2026. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on the University’s research work, and offered candid opinions and suggestions.

Fang Debin delivered a concluding speech. He pointed out that 2026 marks the first year of the 15thFive-Year Plan, the year for deepening the study and education on establishing and practicing a correct view of political performance, and a critical year for the University to seize the opportunity of the third round of “Double First-Class” construction expansion. Research work is the core engine and important support for the University’s development, and this meeting is crucial for the high-quality development and deepening reform of the University’s research efforts. He fully affirmed the achievements of the University’s 2025 research work, while also conducting an in-depth analysis of its weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges. He then put forward requirements for breaking new ground in the University’s research endeavors: First, raise political stance, firmly establish and practice a correct view of political performance in research, and reflect research achievements in serving national strategies, regional development, and industry needs. Second, strengthen research organization, deeply grasp the key positioning of 2026 research work, integrate advantageous resources to precisely plan project applications and breakthrough achievements, and promote quality and efficiency improvement in research work. Third, focus on talent leadership, consolidate the core support for research innovation, and achieve mutual reinforcement between research breakthroughs and talent cultivation. Fourth, vigorously implement and ensure that all tasks are carried out effectively, and with persistent and targeted effort, translate the annual research goals and tasks into concrete results.
