SCMU Delegation Visits Tianjin University for Exchange and Research

On May 24, a delegation led by Liu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President of SCMU, visited Tianjin University for research and exchange. Ming Dong, Vice President of Tianjin University; Ni Guangjian, Director of the Hospital Management Office; He Feng, Dean of the School of Medical Science and Engineering; as well as Yang Xiaofei, Dean of SCMU’s School of Biomedical Engineering, and Lu Xuesong, Associate Dean of the same school, attended the exchange symposium.


The two sides held in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics including doctoral program application, disciplinary development, and talent recruitment. Liu Yi introduced SCMU’s basic information, educational characteristics, and development strategies, with a particular focus on the University’s strengths and strategic layout in interdisciplinary coordinated development. He expressed sincere gratitude to Tianjin University for its long-standing support to SCMU and expressed his hope that Tianjin University would provide further support and guidance in areas such as research collaboration, disciplinary development, talent cultivation and recruitment, and student training. Yang Xiaofei presented his school’s disciplinary framework centered on neural engineering, as well as SCMU’s distinctive strengths in higher education for ethnic minorities and in advancing intelligent healthcare in ethnic regions. Ming Dong shared Tianjin University’s advanced experience in disciplinary development and the commercialization of research outcomes. He spoke highly of the unique characteristics of SCMU’s School of Biomedical Engineering in medical technologies for ethnic regions. In particular, he proposed potential collaboration in areas such as disease diagnosis in ethnic regions and brain injury and protection under high-altitude environments.

The two sides reached a consensus on talent transfer: Tianjin University will prioritize recommending outstanding doctoral graduates for faculty positions at SCMU, while SCMU will offer competitive policies to attract such talents. This research and exchange visit has injected new momentum into the advancement of SCMU’s doctoral program application in relevant disciplines, as well as into its efforts in disciplinary development and faculty team building.


Liu Yi and his delegation also visited the Haihe Laboratory of Brain-Computer Interaction and Human-Machine Integration at Tianjin University.
