On June 5, a delegation led by Zhu Kongjun, Party Secretary of Wuhan University, visited South-Central Minzu University (SCMU) for discussions. The two universities held a meeting on SCMU exchange students at Wuhan University and signed a new Joint Undergraduate Education Program Agreement. The meeting was attended by Lu Wei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Wuhan University; Xu Yeqin, Party Secretary of SCMU; Liu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of SCMU; Qin Rui, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SCMU; along with heads of relevant administrative departments and schools from both universities, and student representatives. The meeting was chaired by Liu Yi.

Xu Yeqin extended a warm welcome to Zhu Kongjun and his delegation. He recalled the deep historical ties between the two institutions and expressed sincere gratitude to Wuhan University for its longstanding support for SCMU’s development. He noted that South-Central Minzu University is a university with a rich heritage, a solid educational foundation, distinctive characteristics, and a beautiful campus. The University is currently guided by the “12345” strategic framework (which outlines one overarching principle, two major goals, a three-step roadmap, four key strategies, and five major capability enhancements) established at its Ninth National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, as it strives to build itself into a high-level university with distinctive features and national first-class standing. He expressed the hope that Wuhan University would continue to support SCMU in its “Double First-Class” initiative, faculty development, high-caliber talent cultivation, and applications for major research projects.
Zhu Kongjun remarked that the two universities are geographically close and share strong personal ties, and expressed the hope for more frequent exchanges. Regarding deeper and sustained cooperation between the two universities, he put forward three aspirations: first, to further enhance the quality of talent cultivation, with Wuhan University adopting a more open approach and stronger measures to intensify joint efforts in student development; second, to strengthen cooperation in forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, jointly advancing innovative development in discipline building and ideological and political education; and third, to deepen collaboration in serving national strategies and supporting Hubei Province’s role as a strategic pivot, working together to open new prospects for the 15thFive‑Year Plan period.
Heads of the Undergraduate Schools from both universities reported on the progress of their cooperative programs. Student representatives from SCMU who had completed their exchange programs and those about to depart for Wuhan University shared their experiences, insights, expectations, and goals.

A signing ceremony was held during the meeting. Lu Wei and Qin Rui signed the new Joint Undergraduate Education Program Agreement on behalf of their respective universities, with Zhu Kongjun, Xu Yeqin, and Liu Yi witnessing the signing.
Under the new agreement, the exchange student program has been comprehensively upgraded in terms of training model, enrollment scale, and disciplinary coverage. The “1+1+2” model allows students to immerse themselves more deeply in the host campus over a more complete academic cycle. The number of majors covered under the agreement has expanded from 8 to 24, covering humanities, sciences, engineering, and other disciplines, while the annual exchange student quota has increased from 20 to 100.
