Recently, the 2018-2019 Hubei Development Research Award Winner List was announced. The research result written by Professor Su Zuqin from the SCMZU’s School of Public Administration, "Suggestions on Giving Full Play to the Strategic Role of North Hubei Water Resources Allocation Project" and the research result written by Professor Wang Shizhong from the School of Education, etc., "Research Report on the Organic Integration of Rural Revitalization Strategy and Targeted Poverty Alleviation in Ethnic Areas in Hubei Province-Taking Changyang Tujia Autonomous County as an example" won the third prizes.

The research report of Professor Su Zuqin and others deeply analyzed the strategic role of the North Hubei Water Resources Allocation Project on the local economic and social leapfrog development and the high-quality development of Hubei, and proposed using the axis of the North Hubei Water Resources Allocation Project to build a modern and efficient agricultural demonstration zone in North Hubei, and developing water conservancy, industry, agriculture and culture comprehensive tourism corridors and other policy suggestions, which has been approved by provincial leaders.

The survey report by Professor Wang Shizhong and others summarized the county’s experiences in exploring the connection between consolidating poverty alleviation achievements and rural revitalization to promote the sustainable development of characteristic industries based on the actual situation in Changyang Tujia Autonomous County, which is a national poverty alleviation and development work key county integrating the old, young, mountain, poor, and reservoirs and also a Wulingshan district county. In view of the special difficulties faced by the connection between rural revitalization and poverty alleviation in the minority areas of Hubei Province, the report proposes some countermeasures and suggestions, such as coordinating the implementation of systems and mechanisms, realizing policy convergence, encouraging the development of diversified industries, boosting the development of new business entities, actively cultivating subject consciousness, and accelerating the cultivation of subject consciousness of rural revitalization and poverty alleviation.

It is reported that the Hubei Development Research Award is a provincial-level award established by the Provincial People's Government, selected every two years, whose applied results must be the policy research results such as consulting research reports, decision-making suggestions and etc. At the same time, the research results must be adopted and applied by the party committee and government at the same level or higher, which has played an obvious role in promoting the economic and social development of Hubei, and has produced certain economic and social benefits. After preliminary evaluation, re-evaluation and final review, a total of 80 award-winning results were selected this time.
