SCMZU ranks 86th in terms of number of papers published in CSSCI journals

Recently, the Statistical Analysis Database of Scientific Research Achievements of Chinese Universities released the ranking of colleges and universities in terms of the number of papers published in Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI) journals. In 2019, a total of 219 papers by teachers of SCMZU were published in CSSCI journals, ranking 86th among all colleges and universities, up by 6 compared with last year.

CSSCI is a citation database in humanities and social sciences, which is invested by Nanjing University and developed by China Social Science Research Evaluation Center of Nanjing University. It is used to search the collection and citation of papers in humanities and social sciences in China. Adhering to the law of bibliometrics, CSSCI adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to select highly regulated journals with high academic value from academic journals in humanities and social sciences in China as source journals. At present, it has included 568 academic journals in 25 categories including law, management, economics, history and political science. In recent years, CSSCI papers have been used by the Ministry of Education and colleges and universities as an important criterion to assess the completion of projects in humanities and social sciences, the awards for achievements and the evaluation of bases. It has also become one of the important criteria for evaluating the level of research in humanities and social sciences of colleges and universities and their rankings. In 2019, 78,641 papers by all the ranking colleges and universities were published in CSSCI journals.


SCMZU has always attached great importance to the cultivation and output of high-quality scientific research results, and actively encouraged teachers to publish high-level papers. In 2019, in order to promote the academic research of teachers, especially young teachers, and create a good academic atmosphere, SCMZU held the first Teachers’ Academic Paper Competition. Editors of CSSCI journals including Jianghan Forum, Journal of Wuhan University (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition), Journal of Huazhong Normal University (Humanities and Social Sciences Edition), Journal of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Higher Education Research, Science and Technology Progress and Policies, Study and Practice, Journal of SCMZU (Humanities and Social Sciences Edition) were invited as judges who actively recommended award-winning papers for publication. In addition, SCMZU has set up various special projects funded by the special funds for basic scientific research of central universities to support teachers to carry out various scientific research, impose stricter requirement for project conclusion and provide more support for the output of high-quality scientific research results, which has achieved good results.
