In order to further promote the construction of School of Marxism in the new era, actively adapt to the national development strategy, further improve the quality of talent training in ideological and political education, on the morning of June 25, SCMZU held a seminar on national first-class undergraduate major construction in ideological and political education at Academic Exchange Center. A total of 50 persons, including Professor Wu Qiantao from Tsinghua University, Professor Wang Xuejian from Lanzhou University, Professor She Shuanghao from Wuhan University, Professor Wan Meirong from Central China Normal University, Professor Xu Fangping from Hubei University, Du Dongyun, the Vice Principal of SCMZU, the personnel chiefly in charge of the School of Marxism, all teachers of professional course and postgraduates attended the seminar. Du Dongyun delivered welcoming speech, and expressed gratitude to all the experts and academic colleagues for their care and support for the growth and development of the School of Marxism and its disciplines. Du pointed out that strongly supporting and developing national first-class undergraduate major construction in ideological and political education related to the orientation of running the university, talent positioning and level of the university, so it is necessary to raise political positioning, closely combine school development, discipline construction, and professional growth, and put it into practice.
Huang Yingxin, the Director of the Academic Affairs Office, expressed that the construction of first-class undergraduate discipline should be clear in concept, positioning and thinking, so as to show the features of SCMZU’s School of Marxism.
Dong Jie, the Vice Principal of the School of Marxism, delivered themed report on development history of bachelor degree in ideological and political education, experience of discipline construction, “3331” talent training mode, and basic idea of first-class undergraduate major construction. Zhu Lei, the person in charge of Ideological and Political Teaching and Research Department reported the detailed idea of building first-class undergraduate programs in the aspects of learning from the advanced, grasping key points, and showing characteristics. Associate Professors Xiong Fang and Teng Shuai, the representative of teachers, reported the experience of enhancing students’ professional ability by focusing on specialized course teaching, separately combining the courses of “Marxist Philosophy” and “Modern World History”.
The experts highly affirmed the achievements, experience, contributions and efforts of national first-class undergraduate major construction in ideological and political education in SCMZU, and provided specific guidance on how to construct national first-class undergraduate major in ideological and political education in the aspects of professional positioning, course setting, textbook construction, practice teaching, and talent training. The experts emphasized that it was important to focus on national development strategy and strengthen the professional positioning of “national first-class”, combining the situation of university, school and students, so as to implement the training of high-quality talent into every detail; it is also important to further sort out the relationship between Marxist Theory (Major) and Ideological and Political Education (Major), and the course of ideological and political theory and the specialized course of ideological and political theory education, so as to enhance the construction of bachelor degree in ideological and political education.
SCMZU’s Professor Xu Bocai reviewed the development history of bachelor degree in ideological and political education since its establishment in 2008,and expressed hope of carefully identifying the “real problems” of discipline construction according to the new tasks and new requirements of the Party and the country, so as to make ideological and political education a first-class major.
Yang Jinzhou made seminar summary. He said that the comment and guidance of each experts had deep understanding and accurate grasp of substantive issues involved in discipline construction, and the School would conduct overall discussion and make new plans based on this seminar, so as to further enhance professional construction and brand creation.
