On June 27th, Hubei Provincial Intellectual Property Office announced the list of Patent Navigation and Soft Science Research Projects of year 2022. Project of “Geographical Indication Products Boost Rural Revitalization”, by Prof. Shang Shimin from School of Fine Arts of SCMZU and his team, was on the list.

This project aims at playing the advisory role of patent navigation and intellectual property soft science research, and help Hubei province take initiatives in emerging industries, consolidate its advantages in traditional industries and seize the opportunities in potential industries. Hubei thus can establish itself as a strong province with high-level science and technology and self-reliant intellectual property. The 51020 modern industrial clusters can thus be supported to grow bigger and stronger.

Geographical indication is a type of intellectual property that benefits agriculture and promotes agricultural industry development. This project is based on “Research of Cultural Value of Geographical Indication in Wuling Ethnic Regions and its Implication in Targeted Poverty Alleviation”, a National Social Science Foundation Project headed by Shang Shimin in 2017. It also includes theoretical research and recent results of his team in geographical indication culture, which has practical significance and theoretical value.
