Great news emerged from the national finals of the 7th Milan Design Week—Exhibition of Outstanding Works by Teachers and Students from Chinese Universities’ Design Departments on November 5th. School of Fine Arts students clinched 3 first-place awards, 4 second-place awards, and 8 third-place awards. The highlights are as follows:
Six faculty members, Cheng Chao, Shang Shimin, Xia Jin, Qiu Hong, Gong Wei, and Liu Xing, were distinguished as Outstanding Instructors in this edition of the competition. At the provincial level, School of Fine Arts students secured nearly 50 accolades, including 11 first-place, 18 second-place, and 20 third-place awards.
The Milan Design Week—Exhibition of Outstanding Works by Teachers and Students from Chinese Universities’ Design Departments, jointly launched and organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange and the Chinese Society of Higher Education, stands as a prestigious academic competition for university students nationwide, endorsed by the Ministry of Education. It also represents a key initiative under the Overseas Study Plan for Teachers and Students in University Art Disciplines by the China Education Association for International Exchange, transforming it into a comprehensive platform. This event aims to authentically showcase the contemporary standards and achievements in design education and fosters a global exchange and learning platform for art discipline educators and students across China. Now in its seventh year, the competition has attracted over 105,000 submissions from nearly 800 universities throughout the country.
