SCMU’s International Student Teams Excel in National Digital Trade Competition Finals

On September 29th, the national finals of the 3rd National College Students’ Comprehensive Digital Trade Skills Competition concluded in Hangzhou. Three joint teams of Chinese and international students from the School of International Education and the School of Economics, SCMU secured first, second, and third prizes in the Silk Road E-commerce International Student category. The university also received an Outstanding Organization Award.


The competition, themed “Digital Trade, Global Commerce”, aims to create an international platform for college students to showcase their skills, foster digital trade expertise, innovation and entrepreneurship abilities, and team spirit. It prepares students for new trends and demands in international trade digitalization and cultivates outstanding global digital trade talents.


This year’s competition attracted 16,569 participants from 527 institutions, competing in four categories: Digital Trade Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Big Data Analysis, Cross-border Live Streaming, and Silk Road E-commerce for International Students. In the Silk Road E-commerce category, 74 teams from 43 universities reached the national finals. All three SCMU teams, mentored by faculty members Sun Xiaoli, Li Bo, Hu Jingjing, and Ma Nan from the School of International Education and the School of Economics, advanced to the national finals. This category awarded 10 first prizes, 20 second prizes, and 30 third prizes. Each participating team was represented by an international student who presented a Silk Road e-commerce story in Chinese.

Since the competition’s launch in February, the School of International Education and the School of Economics have organized and guided faculty and students. From team formation and topic selection to content refinement and presentation practice, team members collaborated actively in preparation for the competition. ALEYA NATASYA PUTRI from Indonesia expressed her joy after winning an award, “Through this competition, I gained a lot of new knowledge and invaluable experience! In the future, I will study harder to improve my skills”.


The head of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange stated that this competition not only enhanced students’ interdisciplinary learning abilities but also improved their cross-cultural communication skills through teamwork. Moving forward, the office will further explore ways to enhance students’ international understanding, global perspective, and international communication skills through professional competitions and other means, supporting the university’s goal of cultivating internationally competitive talents.
