SCMU Wins Six Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Awards

On January 6th, the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Conference was held at Hongshan Auditorium, where the “Decision of the People’s Government of Hubei Province on the 2024 Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Awards” was announced. SCMU received a total of six awards, including one first prize and one second prize for Technological Invention as the lead institution, two second prizes for Scientific and Technological Progress, and one third prize for Technological Invention, setting a new record in the university’s history. Liu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President, attended the conference by invitation, while Professor Zhang Daohong from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science received the award on stage as a representative of the winners.

A total of 324 scientific and technological achievements (individuals) and 13 enterprises across the province received awards, including 2 Outstanding Contribution Awards, 7 Youth Science and Technology Innovation Awards, 2 Special Awards, 63 First Prizes, 123 Second Prizes, and 127 Third Prizes.


Professor Zhang Daohong’s team won the First Prize for Technological Invention for their “Key Technologies for Interface Enhancement and Energy-efficient Manufacturing of Lightweight Modified Plastics for Automobiles”. Professor Yang Yingkui’s team from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science received the Second Prize for Technological Invention for their “Key Technologies for Green Mass Production and Functionalized Applications of Graphene”. Professor Tian Wei’s team from the School of Computer Science won the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress for their “Key Technologies and Applications for Universal Condition Detection of Non-shutdown Electrical Equipment”, as did Professor Fu Haiyan’s team from the School of Pharmacy for their “Key Technologies and Applications for Tea and Liquor Quality and Safety Detection and Control”. Professor Chen Lianqing’s team from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science was awarded the Third Prize for Technological Invention for their “Closed Preparation Key Technologies and Integrated Application of Phenylpyrazole Active Substances and Heterojunction Degradation Materials”. Additionally, the team led by Professor Hu Junhao and Associate Professor Zhang Guodong from the School of Mathematics and Statistics participated in winning the Third Prize for Natural Sciences for their “Stability Theory and Methods for Hybrid Neural Dynamic Systems”.


In June, Professor Du Dongyun from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science participated in winning the National Second Prize for Technological Invention, achieving a breakthrough for SCMU in national science and technology awards. In October, the teams led by Professor Yin Shijin and Associate Professor Zhou Li from the School of Pharmacy won the First Prize and Second Prize of the Chinese Association of Ethnic Medicine, respectively.


According to a spokesperson from the Institute of Scientific Research and Development, the next step will be to continue promoting organized scientific research with a focus on consolidating the sense of community for the Chinese nation, addressing national strategic and regional development needs, encouraging original innovation, actively promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and vigorously implementing the cultivation of landmark achievements to comprehensively enhance the university’s scientific research innovation and social service capabilities.
