On July 12, the award ceremony of the 9th Teaching Contest for College Young Teachers in Hubei Province was held at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). Prior to the ceremony, Liu Xuerong, Vice Chairperson of Hubei Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee and Chairperson of Hubei Federation of Trade Unions, met with award-winning faculty representatives and trade union leaders from participating universities. SCMU Party Secretary Xu Yeqin attended the meeting. SCMU achieved its best-ever performance in this competition, with all four participating faculty members winning awards: Ling Yun (College of Electronics and Information Engineering) won First Prize in Engineering. Lei Jiemei (College of Electronics and Information Engineering) won First Prize in Science. Chen Xing (School of Literature, Journalism & Communication) won First Prize in Liberal Arts. Dong Meihao (School of Marxism) won Second Prize in Ideological and Political Education. These groundbreaking achievements demonstrate the remarkable effectiveness of SCMU's young faculty development system.

In her course "CMOS Digital Integrated Circuit Design," Ling Yun adopted advanced packaging technology as the entry point. By analyzing interconnection technologies, she deeply integrated packaging principles with China's technological self-reliance mission, forming a distinctive teaching approach that combines professional knowledge with patriotic education. Lei Jiemei employed the "Compton Effect" as her teaching vehicle, connecting scientific history with China's research breakthroughs. This established a dual education model that cultivates patriotism through Chinese narratives while inspiring innovation through cutting-edge technology. Chen Xing, teaching "Introduction to Network and New Media," used Media System Dependency Theory to examine human-media interactions. She systematically analyzed the evolution from moderate smartphone use to over-dependence, combining technical analysis with media literacy education through a progressive "theory-practice-capability" teaching framework that fosters rational media use. Dong Meihao's ideological and political course focused on "Whether Contemporary Youth Need Hard Work Spirit." Through case studies and question-based teaching, she guided students along the "What-Why-How" logical progression to critically examine social misconceptions and internalize the value of hard work.

Since May last year, the University Labor Union has collaborated with undergraduate schools and colleges to organize selection trials, pre-competition training, and simulation exercises. Professional guidance teams were formed to provide tailored coaching based on participants' disciplinary specialties. This integrated "teaching-research-training" model represents both a strategic application of teaching competition experience and a practical implementation of the university's faculty development system, embodying the educational philosophy of "enhancing teachers through competitions and nurturing through culture."

Since its inception in 2008, the Hubei Provincial Teaching Competition for Young Faculty, guided by the principle of "delivering excellent courses," has brought together nearly 500,000 young teachers across the province to compete, learn from each other, and grow professionally. It has become a crucial platform for young teachers' development, an important driver of educational reform, and a vital bond uniting the teaching community. Our university will leverage this competition to strengthen the "competition-promoted teaching" mechanism; enhance professional development platforms for young faculty; transform outstanding teaching achievements into effective virtue cultivation; and build a stronger faculty foundation for cultivating high-quality, innovative, versatile talents with patriotic values who meet the development demands of higher education institutions in the new era.
