On August 13, South-Central Minzu University received an official certificate from the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) Research and Evaluation Center at Nanjing University, confirming that the Journal of South-Central Minzu University (Humanities and Social Sciences) has once again been selected as a CSSCI Source Journal for the 2025–2026 term.
The journal consistently adheres to the guiding principles of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implements the university’s Party and administrative requirements, and strengthens the substance of its academic publications. Focusing on key themes such as “the Chinese nation,” “Chinese culture,” and “the Chinese national community,” it stays attuned to the pulse of the times and is dedicated to advancing the development of historical, discursive, and theoretical systems centered on the Chinese national community. In doing so, it fully supports the national goal of building a strong cultural presence and actively contributes to constructing the disciplinary, academic, and discourse systems of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics.
During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, under the high-level attention and steadfast leadership of the university’s Party Committee and administration, the journal has been continuously included in the National Chinese Core Journals (from the 1992 to 2023 editions), the CSSCI Source Journals (since 1998), the Core Journals of the AMI Comprehensive Evaluation of Humanities and Social Sciences in China (Edition A, 2014–2022), and was recognized as a National Authoritative University Journal in Social Sciences (2023). From 2021 to 2023, it received financial support from the Hubei Provincial Journal Development Fund for three consecutive years. Its special column, “Fostering a Strong Sense of the Chinese National Community,” was listed among the first reserve columns for philosophy and social science journals by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee in 2024. These achievements reflect its continuously rising academic quality and growing societal influence.
According to a relevant journal official, the publication will continue to uphold a strong sense of mission and responsibility, maintain the correct political direction, and further deepen the development and innovation of the disciplinary, academic, and discourse systems of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. It will promote the integration of basic theoretical and applied policy research, academic scholarship, and think tank studies, enhance the capacity for academic topic selection, thought leadership, and discourse innovation, and continuously improve its quality assurance system for publishing. Efforts will be made to further elevate the journal’s quality, academic impact, public reputation, and international reach, with the aim of building a high-level academic platform and contributing more substantially to the high-quality development of the university.
