Our University Unveils Smart Internet of Things Industry College, Opening a New Chapter in University-Industry Collaboration for Smart New Engineering Talent Development

On the afternoon of September 29th, the Expert Seminar on the Construction of the Smart Internet of Things Industry College of our university and its unveiling ceremony were held in Building No. 16. Li Hongyan, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University, Wang Yiming, General Manager of the Education Sector and Qiu Detao, Technical Director of Education Services at Zhejiang Dahua Smart IoT Operation Service Co., Ltd., Li Yunfan, General Manager of Wuhan Chunyou Zhixin Digital Technology Co., Ltd., along with responsible persons and experts from relevant university units including the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Undergraduate School, the Information Management Office, the Procurement and Bidding Center, the College of Electronics and Information Engineering (School of Robotics), the College of Biomedical Engineering, and the School of Computer Science (School of Artificial Intelligence) attended the event. The activity was hosted by Pan Zejiang, Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.


During the event, Li Hongyan, Wang Yiming, Qiu Detao, and Pan Zejiang jointly unveiled the Smart Internet of Things Industry College of our university.

In her speech, Li Hongyan stated that the high-quality construction of modern industry colleges is of great significance for promoting the deep integration of the talent chain, education chain, industry chain, and innovation chain. She expressed the hope to draw on Dahua’s experience and integrate resources to address challenges in talent cultivation and digital transformation, assisting graduates in high-quality employment and entrepreneurship. She also looked forward to expanding the space and depth of cooperation, innovating the talent cultivation model, improving the quality of talent training, and serving regional development.


Wang Yiming stated that Dahua would leverage its technological and resource advantages in the field of Smart Internet of Things to deeply cooperate with our university, focusing on talent cultivation, laboratory construction, scientific research collaboration, and other aspects, to supply high-quality application-oriented talents for the smart IoT industry and promote the synergistic development of industry and education.


Qiu Detao provided a detailed explanation of the industry college's training laboratory, showcasing advanced IoT technology equipment and the training environment. Participating experts and scholars engaged in in-depth discussions on the operation ideas and cooperation mechanisms of the industry college, exchanging opinions on the construction of a "dual-qualified" teaching faculty, industry talent certification, targeted student cultivation and graduate employment, joint scientific research projects, and initially formed plans for deep cooperation.

It is reported that the establishment of the Smart Internet of Things Industry College is an important practical move in actively responding to the national“Industry-Education Integration”strategy and exploring new models for cultivating application-oriented“New Engineering”talents. The industry college will advance the“Seven-One”project focused on cultivating outstanding innovative and entrepreneurial talents in AIOT: creating a brand for innovative talent cultivation, nurturing a batch of AIOT innovation projects, building a cluster of AIOT innovation courses, constructing an AIOT innovation experimental scenario, organizing a series of AIOT industry and enterprise qualification certifications, establishing an AIOT innovation club, and forming a team of joint university-industry mentors, to assist the high-quality development of the AIOT industry. Through deep university-industry cooperation, diverse resources will be integrated to achieve complementary advantages, thereby injecting strong new momentum into the cultivation of outstanding innovative and entrepreneurial talents.
