Prior to the lecture, Liu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of our University, met with Academician Fan Weicheng and held discussions with him.

The lecture was chaired by Peng Qingjun, Dean of the National Security School at our University. During the lecture, Academician Fan Weicheng systematically expounded on China's security work under the new circumstances, the evolving landscape of key areas in national security, scientific issues and key technologies in national security, as well as explorations and practices in building safe and resilient cities. Building on this foundation, he introduced cutting-edge scientific approaches: at the instrumental level, the “Catastrophe Science Center” has taken shape to meet the development needs of the security industry; at the top-level design level, a “government-industry-university-research-application” community with a shared future for public safety has been established; at the demonstration practice level, the Tsinghua Solution, Hefei Model, and Anhui Template have become typical cases of urban lifeline safety engineering. At the conclusion of the lecture, Academician Fan introduced the concept of safe and resilient cities, pointing out the importance of building such cities for preventing routine security risks. He also elaborated on the connotation and significance of implementing a holistic approach to national security, prompting deep reflection among the attending faculty and students.
