On May 15, the summary conference of the 6thHubei Provincial College Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition was held at SCMU. Qiao Zhiqiang, Second-level Inspector of the Department of Education of Hubei Province; Zhou Yingjia, President of the Hubei Association of Higher Education; and Xu Yeqin, Secretary of the University Party Committee, attended the conference. More than 170 people attended the conference, including representatives from 48 universities across Hubei Province, award-winning teachers, and representatives of technical support providers for the competition such as Chaoxing and Higher Education Press (HEP). The conference was presided over by Peng Wei, Secretary-General of the Hubei Association of Higher Education, and was held in a combination of onsite and online formats.

Xu Yeqin delivered a welcome speech, extending a warm welcome to the leaders, guests and representatives of university faculty from across Hubei Province in attendance. He noted that the competition had built an important platform for faculty members across the province to learn from each other, exchange ideas and improve together. SCMU will take this competition as an opportunity to deepen its education and teaching reform, continuously improve the quality of talent cultivation, and strive to contribute to Hubei’s efforts in building a strong education province and serving the nation’s high-quality development.

Hu Junhao, Dean of SCMU’s Undergraduate School, reported on the overall progress of the competition. University representatives, including Li Hong, Deputy Party Secretary of China Three Gorges University; Luo Mingzhang, Dean of the Undergraduate School of Yangtze University; Xu Xia, Vice President of Wuhan Sports University; and Li Cai, Vice President of Wuhan Huaxia Institute of Technology, delivered speeches in turn. They shared practical approaches and exemplary achievements in building teaching innovation systems, enhancing faculty teaching competence, and drawing lessons from competition preparations, providing valuable references for deepening education and teaching reform across universities in the province.

The list of award winners was announced at the conference. A total of 46 special awards, 55 first prizes, 83 second prizes and 91 third prizes were conferred. In addition, 34 provincial Excellent Organization Awards and 34 Outstanding Organizer Awards were presented. Leaders attending the conference presented awards to representatives of teachers who received special awards. Liu Min, a professor at Hubei Normal University and a representative of special award recipients, shared her reflections on participating in the competition.
Qiao Zhiqiang delivered a concluding speech in which he gave high recognition to the competition’s organizational effectiveness and its outcomes in talent development. He stressed that teaching innovation is a key measure for fulfilling the fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing talent. He called on all universities in Hubei Province to remain committed to the original aspiration and mission of cultivating talent for the Party and the nation, to concentrate on teaching, to strengthen awareness of teaching innovation, to promote the reform of teaching models and methods, and to give full play to the demonstrative and leading role of the competition, so as to drive the overall improvement of teaching quality across the province. He also encouraged teachers preparing for the national competition to refine their skills and strive for excellence, aiming to achieve even better results on the national stage.

It is reported that SCMU achieved outstanding results in this teaching innovation competition, winning a total of 7 special awards, 8 first prizes, 2 second prizes, and 2 third prizes, along with the Best Organization Award.
