On July 4, 34 students from the School of Literature, Journalism & Communication and the School of Ethnology and Sociology arrived in Beijing, who respectively went to National Pictorial, National Unity Periodical Office and China Nationality Newspaper for internship, which was the third summer internship program with media in Beijing co-organized by the School of Literature, Journalism & Communication, the Publicity Department of the CPC Committee and the Academic Affairs Office of SCMU. Three media held a mobilization meeting for the internship successively, which was attended by Tao Xihong, the dean, Chen Xiao, deputy dean of the School of Literature, Journalism & Communication, Wang Jiangpeng, the leading teacher and leaders of three media of Beijing.
On the morning of July 5, the National Pictorial held an opening ceremony for the class of interns of 2021. Zhao Li, the deputy director, delivered a welcoming speech, introduced the general information of the pictorial and raised four requirements for the interns from SCMU. First, make comprehensive use of expertise to develop the ability to collect and edit news and train the “four abilities” required for a news worker. Second, apply what’s learned in the practice and handle the relationship between theory and practice well. Third, develop good professional ethics, be devoted and innovative. Fourth, cherish the opportunities, observe rules and regulations, and pay attention to safety.
On the meeting with the interns held in the morning, Man Jila, the deputy director of National Unity Periodical Office, delivered a welcoming speech, while the chief editor Li Xiaolin introduced the general information, achievements and recent arrangement of the Periodical Office, and encouraged the students to work hard during the internship and pay attention to safety and health.
On the morning of July 6, the Periodical Office held a welcoming event for the interns, in which the deputy chief editor Xiao Jingfang delivered a speech, who fully recognized the cooperation achievements between the Periodical Office and SCMU, and raised expectations for the interns. She hoped that the students could be diligent and curious, make a reasonable use of time and study actively and observe the political and internship disciplines and the system of “three reviews and evaluations” in learning Party newspaper.

At the meeting, Tao Xihong reviewed the excellent achievements of cooperation with the three organizations and expressed gratitude for their great support and considerate arrangement for the interns. He asked the interns to put safety at the first position, have thirst for knowledge, strictly observe the disciplines and require themselves with high standards. They should work hard and modestly, take notes and conduct reflection and summary in time, so that they will have some gains without wasting their time.
