To mobilize and select graduates to serve in western China, the 2022 program seminar was held in the academic exchange center on the afternoon of May 18. Wang Yidan, deputy secretary of CPC Shiyan Municipal Committee, Qian Hongliang, deputy secretary of Youth League Committee of SCMU, members of the 24th Teaching Assistance Group of Graduate and 300 graduates participated in the seminar online and offline.

The director introduced selection methods, recruitment process and policies of the program to the graduates with video display, policy advocacy and on-site Q&A. Wang Yidan introduced the program and talent introduction policy of Shiyan city, including urban residency, professional ranking system and social security. Han Jianqiao, a alumnus who graduated last year and once served in Xinjiang production and construction corps, and Yang Shuang, a member of the 23rd Teaching Assistance Group of Graduate who served as a teacher in Dali, Yunnan, shared their stories about tempering themselves through community service and dedication to society. A teacher from the university Youth League Committee introduced the recruitment policy and encouraged students to serve the areas where the Party and people need them most.
Since the initialization of the program in 2003, jointly launched by the Central Communist Youth League, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the university have actively carried out activities, including volunteer training, extensive communication and internships. In the past 19 years, over 2000 graduates enrolled, among whom 472 have been selected as volunteers to serve in western China. In addition, 117 members of the Teaching Assistance Group of Graduate have served in Tibet, Xinjiang, Guizhou, Yunnan and other ethnic areas in central and western China. From 2013 to 2022, the program has been awarded the National Excellent Project of College Graduates Volunteer in Western Region Service Program for 10 consecutive years.
