On October 14, SCMU inaugurated its session of the “Hong Zhi Navigation Plan”, a national graduate employment skills training program funded by the Central Special Lottery Public Welfare Fund under the Ministry of Education. The ceremony was held in Building No. 4, co-organized by the Employment Guidance Center of Hubei Provincial Education Department and SCMU, in partnership with China University of Geosciences (CUG) (Wuhan). The event was attended by representatives from the Student Employment Guidance Office and Career Development Center of CUG (Wuhan), SCMU’s Admissions and Employment Office leaders, and 100 student participants.

The program aims to implement the central government’s strategic initiatives for “stabilizing and securing employment” and promote higher-quality employment opportunities for the graduating class of 2025. During the opening ceremony, Wu Tanggao, Director of the Student Employment Guidance Office at CUG (Wuhan), outlined the program’s background and significance. Using the metaphor of the “Age of Exploration”, he encouraged students to maintain high aspirations while staying practical, and to boldly explore new territories and seize opportunities in this era. He emphasized that society’s rapid transformation and emerging industries present unprecedented development opportunities for students, urging participants to make the most of this valuable training opportunity to enhance their employability.
SCMU’s Admissions and Employment Office representative detailed the training program’s structure, content, and importance. He explained that the office had carefully tailored the training plan to meet both higher-level requirements and the university’s specific needs, aiming to broaden students’ career perspectives and enhance their capabilities. He encouraged participants to fully engage with the program, emphasizing the importance of thoughtful learning and practical application to boost their employment prospects and confidence. Chen Huidan, the program’s head instructor, provided specific guidelines regarding class management and training requirements.
Following the ceremony, the program began with its first module covering “Job Search Analysis and Strength Recognition” and “Employment Information Collection and Management”. The five-day training program (40 class hours total) will run from October 14-18 for 100 selected class of 2025 students, covering ten topics including job preparation, career exploration, and decision-making strategies.
