From October 12 to 20, SCMU’s Logistics Department participated in a food festival at Shandong University’s Qingdao campus upon invitation. The department carefully assembled an elite team from campus dining halls to represent SCMU’s culinary expertise. During the nine-day event, our delegation not only showcased specially prepared Hubei cuisine but also engaged in in-depth technical exchanges and cultural sharing with dining teams from other universities.
The festival brought together dining teams from numerous prestigious institutions across China, including Zhejiang University, Harbin University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sichuan University, and Central South University. SCMU’s exhibition booth was located at Counter 18 on the first floor of the Xiyuan Cafeteria at the Qingdao campus. During meal times, the booth drew large crowds and bustling activity.
Shandong University’s faculty and students particularly praised SCMU’s distinctive Hubei cuisine. Classic dishes such as Meatball Soup, Steamed Pearl Meatballs, Steamed Pork with Rice Powder, Fish Cake, Pan-fried Fish Cube, Braised Chicken with Chestnuts, Braised Duck with Lotus Root, and Braised Meatballs attracted long queues of food enthusiasts. Students enthusiastically shared their appreciation for SCMU’s culinary offerings on social media platforms like Douyin and Xiaohongshu.

The chef teams from institutions shared their culinary experiences and insights, exploring ways to innovate dishes while maintaining food safety standards and improving service quality. SCMU representatives actively participated in discussions about enriching campus dining culture and elevating service standards.
Prior to the Shandong visit, the Logistics Department held a pre-departure mobilization meeting to outline requirements, followed by a post-event discussion where team members shared their experiences. The team unanimously agreed that the food festival not only demonstrated SCMU’s dining service capabilities but also provided valuable insights and experiences, laying a solid foundation for future plans to host SCMU’s own distinctive food festival.
